If you want to be the king on the block in speed and mpg go with Spartan. If you want to plug your DPF and destroy your transmission go with one of the other boys. Just remember with the Spartan you'll need some new exhaust piping and a new intake is advised as well.

hey Jerrod, you are not the first one that told me that. My first 6.4 2008 F-350 4x4 KR i had edge. No power, always run 150 hp dyno tune with edge on top with propane. I want my cake and eat it to. no really I have heard good about spartan and HS Performance
Has anyone used speed loader on the banks. I know my 6.0 L but this is my second 6.4. What about edge race?
Spartan and SCT are the two best on the 6.4TT right now for Power, MPG and tune quality.
Banks is very expensive and doesn't have the capabilities of the SCT Livewire Extreme or Spartan.
SPARTAN!!!SPARTAN!!!SPARTAN!!! I had the Banks and did not like it. I now have the Spartan and there is no comparison in power or fuel economy. I'm getting 20mpg hwy and about 16-17 city on the 210 tune. The guys and gals at Spartan tell me I can get even better with the 250 tune. I guess I'll try that next tank and see what I get. I'll post it when I do.
I always find these comparisons interesting... I am debating between Spartan and Banks as well, and not making any other modifications (no dpf delete, air intake, exhaust). I would love to see some real hand-calculated numbers on mileage improvement. Obviously, additional horsepower is nice.
These modifications do throw off the mileage indicator significantly after install, so numbers that aren't hand-calculated are meaningless.
Banks says they expect, under the same driving conditions, an increase in mileage of 2-3 mpg with no other modifications. Is this really what people are seeing? What does Spartan indicate?

spartan doesn't give a number they just say increased mpg. i fixed my exhaust and the best i've got was 21.6 hand calc. i took it easy on my truck never got above 65, but under my normal driving i get around 18-19 going 70-75
with my banks and my aero dynamic front bumper and off road tires I can still get 13 city and 17 hwy, empty of course. Around 10 mpg towing heavy.
The big plus is the regens...which we know are a killer, fewer of them..I usually am around 500 mile between running empty and around 150 towing, but they only last about 10 miles.

I have less than 2000 miles on my 2010 6.4l so far, and I know MPG should improve a bit as the engine gets broken in, but I have only gotten 17 once so far on a trip that was 100% highway. I've been doing hand calcs on every fill, and comparing to the dummy gauge. I'm even recording the outside temperature, and what fuel station I filled with. Sounds anal, but my background is science, I am curious to know what change I will really see (if any) when I get the tuner.
I don't know if it has any impact, but the 17 mpg was from a Shell station, and it's the only time I've ever been able to buy diesel from Shell.
I just installed a Buckstop bumper and Warn HD PowerPlant Winch, which added about 400 lbs. to the truck, so I'm sure that won't help my MPG.
I know mileage isn't the main reason to buy a tuner, but if there was a big difference between tuners it would obviously influence my decision. I do like the fact that Banks is on-the-fly rather than downloading a tune every time I want to change. Spartan is less expensive though, and offers more power.
I don't have my foot in it all the time, and most of what I'm doing with the truck is highway driving or towing. Any other thoughts or feedback is always appreciated.

so the bottom line is you get what you pay for. If you are going to run an off-road configuration then you must have a tuner. Otherwise the PCM will throw it into limp mode and it will mess with the whole system.
