2009 f250 6.4L V8 navistar engine 6 speed manual. what is the best programmer for this truck??? all opinions welcome...

for DPF on tunes I'd recommend the Banks 6 gun. CARB certified clean tuner. Other will chime in soon on their recommendations

I have a 2008 F450 manual with 4.88 gears. I have a Spartan Phalanx tuner, AFE DOC/DPF delete pipe. I just drove from Virginia to Ohio and back, averaged almost 16mpg driving 65mph on the 250 tune. That's over constantly hilly terrain, and a few mountains as well. I am extremely impressed with that mileage, and the truck has way more power.

I don't like the 275 tune with the manual, almost impossible to be smooth...the throttle is WAY too touchy. But the 250 is fine. The 275 has RIDICULOUS power, though.

I don't have any experience with the H&S products, but have read good things about them.

I have a banks for sale if interested just took it off a 6.4 6 speed also have Banks monster dual exh.

There are several to choose from. All depends on what you want to do with the truck, and what limitations may exist, e.g. warranty, emissions testing, etc..

If your looking to stay relatively stock, want additional power and don't want to put the DPF at risk. Take a look at the Banks unit. Very clean tune. Plug-n-play. Easy to use, install and uninstall if need be. You will only get about 1-3MPG increase with this or any other DPF On tuner.

Just want to get rid of the DPF/EGR for the lowest cost. Take a look at the DPF-R+. Plug it into the OBD port, follow the instructions to install the tune then unplug and store in a safe place. Capable of 18+MPG from what users have reported.

Looking for even more power. Take a look at H&S or Spartan maybe even SCT with custom tunes. Capable of adding 300+HP depending on the tune. Connects to the OBD port to install and uninstall tunes as well as monitor truck performance if the tuner comes with a monitor. Capable of 18+MPG from what users have reported.

i dont need extreme power, i want it more for milage than anything. truck has 65,000 miles so warranties are not an issue. it is stock right now, programmer is going to be my 1st step, not any exhaust mods for now. so i guess im asking whats the best programmer for milage and alittle more power?

I think most people on here would agree, you aren't going to see any real mileage increases until you get rid of the exhaust restrictions, shut off the EGR and Regen process.

I agree with you but for now just getting a programmer. I need to know which the best one for mileage is. Anyone run the newest edge evo? What about banks..what kind of banks?

Deleting the DPF should net about 5% gain in mpgs since you're no longer dumping fuel out the exhaust for regens. Disabling the EGR is worth another 5%. Any gains beyond that purportedly come from injector timing used on the higher HP tunes

Any DPF On tuner will only get you about 1-3MPG increase. That's what I see on the Banks I have and I believe Senix sees similar. It's also the most DPF friendly tuner out there if you plan on leaving it stock.

I can understand you wanting to do things in stages, but keep in mind, if you get a programmer like a Banks they will not support a DOC/DPF delete should you decide to go that way in the future. Then you would be stuck buying a new programmer.
BTW, Banks is the best DPF on programmer IMHO.

I don't think you understand fully,do some research on the net.A tuner that runs and doesn't delete the dpf is a waste of money!!!,you will not see any mileage at all and it will clog your dpf period.The only good tuners are H&S, SPARTAN,SCT.Unfortunately the epa screwed the pooch on this motor with all the smog crap that made it unreliable. Delete all the smog crap before it's to late,the longer you wait the sooner your engine will be in the crapper,oh yeah,don't forget head studs.HONESTLY though do some research on the web before you waste your money.
