Talking to a reputable source who attended a meeting regarding the future of performance tuners, it looks like after things cool down in a few months, new options will become available. H&S has a new line of street performance tuners that run stock trucks (non-deleted), but they dont offer the supposed mpg gains.

One kicker is that the old hard-core performance tuners will still be available for people if you can get a waiver from your state saying it is okay. Yeah, good luck with that. The biggest kicker is that the hard-core delete tuners will be available for government use with no rules... such as border patrol, police units, armed forces, etc. If its not good enough for our use, why in thr heck should the government have privledges? Thats just wrong.

I belch white unburned fuel smoke in the first few minutes of regen. It's not clear to me that is any better than belching black smoke without a DPF. LOL

Big Brother is cracking down on tuners

You know it is like my grandpa has said for years... If diesel fumes are so bad why have diesels been used in the mines for years... I realize they use propane more now but I would rather breathe diesel fumes over gas any day and there are way more gas vehicles on the road than diesel

I guess if you don't mind breathing in soot particles, it can't be any worse than coal dust.

the trick will be for a tuner/delete builder to develop a high flow catalyst bed and particulate filter. yeh, thats right! not less exhaust equipment, but less restrictive high flow (bigger) exhaust equipment.

i still don't understand the need to race these trucks as daily drivers
the 6.7 at 800 lbs just isn't satisfying some of these egos i guess

How about adding a 9th injector into the exhaust instead of injecting the extra fuel into the motor along with the high flow DPF

Not sure that is the answer either. GM has the 9th injector, and their mileage is substantially worse than the Ford 6.7L.

Not all the high hp tunes smoke. Gearhead has very high horsepower tunes with minimal smoke. I think eventually this would have happened either way but 9 times out of 10 when I see somone rolling coal it's a dodge with a bullydog sticker on it smoking like a train going no where fast!

Not as concerned about the mileage but by not injecting into the motor it would eliminate the oil dilution problem then the addition of a bypass filter system we could run extended oil change intervals with synthetic oils.
