cleaning an oiling air filters

I have a afe pg 7 an it's time to clean it, but i don't have the afe cleaning kit but i do have an old k&n cleanig kit,these cleaning kits are about the same aren't they, just some may have different color oil. tell me what you guys think.

AFE says not to use K&N oil on their intakes. I have no idea how different they are, thats just what they say. I know some people do it anyway though.

Dang... I have used K&N oil on my AFE filter since I got it .... about 6 years now..... Still seems to be doing the job. NO dirt or grime in the intake......
