Does chipping/programming set a code?

It seems like there is alot of misinformation on this subject. Does anyone have a cut and dry answer about this issue? Does reprogramming your computer set a code in the computer that can't be reset?

no, when you clear the codes, it sets a drive cycle code. most new rigs have a flash counter, that will detect the last X number of flashes. GM's can see the 10 flashes on a truck and what those entailed.

What can I say? Why worry about DTCs when there are log files to be had.... There is a lot they aren't telling us.... There are a lot of memory areas in the PCM that we just don't know about...

In the end.... is there a reason to be worried? Is there something we are trying to hide?

The answers are....Yes, and Yes.

With Ford trying to hold down warranty cost, they seem to be looking for ANY reason to blame the owner. As in your oil pump failed and the lack of lube destroyed the bottom end of your engine.,,But,,you have a chip so Ford won't cover it under warranty.
