I have the dual alternators on my 06, and thought it was cool at first, now I find myself wishing I had just got the single. With the dual, the intercooler piping is crushed from ford to make it fit, not to mention a lot of cool fuel systems and nitrous setups mount right where the second alternator is. Those pro-chargers mount there too....

There is a Ford bulletin on converting to/from dual alternator, and the procedure is quite simple. It does require a calibration setting change on the ECM though.

Thanks! That's awesome. I will be installing this in the next couple days and will let you know how much the dealership wants to reprogram.

The key here is that the PCM is controlling it all, so if I did upgrade and bought the 2 alternators, I'd need to see if the PCM could be set for duals...

So, next question: Does anyone know if the PCMs be reprogramed from singal to dual alternators at the dealer?
The dealer should be able to flash the PCM so that it supports Duals. It'll probably cost you but you can probably get it waved when they do a normal flash or other TSB repair.

Edit: Just realized this was an old thread.
