I recently put my Insight from my 06' 350 in my 09' 350. It turns on as soon as I plug it in to the OBD, but does not activate once the truck is turned off then back on. Edge says they don't have an answer. Anybody have a solution. I like the insight, but if it doesn't work, I will be putting it up for sale.

I have exactly the same deal with mine... dealt with Edge (on the phone/email), they even sent me a new unit that did the same.. I sent it back and kept the original and now just live with the problem... I unplug/plug the unit from the ODB port to "wake" it up and all is well until the next time I shut the truck off (and open the door to stop the 10 minute accessory period).. One Edge tech did admit they had not tested the Insight with the '09 F450 so they had no idea what was causing the problem... since you have a 350 I'm guessing the problem has nothing to do with mine being in a 450... maybe it is a change in the ODB port in '09... I gave up messing with Edge (although they did try and help but just didn't seem interested enough to follow=up) but like the Insight enough to put up with the problem and haven't bothered them anymore. Good luck and if you find out anything new from them, pass it on please.

Same problem here. All the info on Edge's site as well as the dealer I bought the unit from confirmed it would work on a 2009 Ford F-350. I guess I have a different definition of "work" LOL. I will put up with the hassle but I should have spent the extra cash and purchased a DashDaq.
Admittedly, Edge's customer support was friendly but I was simply put on a list to be notified if and when a solution is found. At this time, Edge gets a "thumbs up" for customer support but a "thumbs down" for product.

You don't need the pyro, the Insight will read all four of the stock Ford pyros, use EGT, it's the one right after the header and before the turbo. It's what I use on my '08.
FYI, the others are:
EGT B1S1
EGT B1S2
EGT B1S3
Don't know exactly where they are, but they are all near the dpf to monitor the regen process.

Try hooking the Insight to your PC and updating the firmware. There are new releases for the newer trucks so you can monitor all the new engine parameters.

The only problem that I'm having with my '08 is that the instantaneous MPG does not work, other than that, no problems. I've called Edge and they say it's a known issue and that I'm on the list for when they update the firmware to fix this issue.

Well, I've returned my Insight due to poor customer service. While it is a cool little gadget, the customer service at Edge leaves a lot to be desired. I have an '08 Super Duty and I got it to monitor the EGT's, tranny temps, MPG, etc for when I pull over the mountains here. The two main reasons were EGT and MPG. The '08 has built in pyros, so I did not have to get the pyrometer, but the MPG feature was non functional. I sent in a trouble ticket and they said it was a known issue and they were working on it. Also, there are a lot a Ford specific codes that, while listed in the menus, the unit does not currently support (things like fuel rail pressure, ambient air temperature). So I waited six-ish weeks, and then got into another e-mail thread with them. Finally they had me call them where their tech basically told me they fix it when the fix, it could be next month, could be next year. Their engineers were too busy on a new product release. That attitude just steamed me and it was back in the box and at UPS the next morning. He later explained that he was just trying to manage my expectations about when the next update would come out, but it was too late.

I've also had it with the Edge Insight. Now the @$%@ thing seems to be causing a "Communication Bus Failure" code unless it is seated just right in the OBD port - I guess the constant plugging and unplugging is affecting the cable. Customer service is friendly but pretty much useless. I am ordering a Dash Daq tomorrow morning and will simply chalk up the Insight purchase to getting taken by false advertising (works on 09 Fords - LOL). Oh well, if I ever purchase another Edge product, all of you have my permission to track me down and punch me as hard as you can in the face
I've had E.I. in my 2009 F250 for a year, and it has worked very well. They updated the software shortly after I got it. I'm pleased. I'm not running the
MPG feature. EGT before & after turbo, Trans. Temp, & Boost.
