Edge Insight

I would like to install an Edge Insight to monitor my truck but I have some questions.

1. Will it be traceable by the dealer?
2. If so, will they deny the warranty even though it is simply just an electronic guage that monitors many different parameters? The truck is stock.
3. Does the insight allow you to monitor the transmission temperature? I know you can monitor egt with the optional thermocouple.
4. What all parameters can be monitored?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have the insight for the 08....the 08 doesent need the thermocople thou...just plugs into the obd port and the 08's have a factory egt guage ..so it just reads the signal to the factory pcm

it will give you the tranny temp...It will monitor things you never thought of...on mine it will read 2 different IAT...I think there prior to and after the intercooler

it has 4 screens you can set up....and switch between while driving...I love it...

I had a dealer look funny at it and explaind to both dealerships what it was and told them to feel free to check the pcm....since it doesent modify anything the stock pcm wont show any changes....

Its a nice scan tool to ck DTC codes also..

The Insight will NOT void your warranty as it does nothing to the programming. It is our top seller for the 6.4L because it monitors a ton of parameters and is VERY easy to install. Follow the link below to see all the parameters it monitors, they start on page 66. Let me know if I can help, Edge products are currently 10% off.

Do you have it installed so it comes on when you start the truck or running power straight to it and have to turn it off/on manually?

yes..it starts when you turn on the key....and turns off a few seconds after you turn the key off.....it keeps your settings for awhile.....

I happened to have a couple of bad truck batteries and it erased my settings...

but even if that happens as soon as the truck is running it starts up with all the factory defaults...

I have the Edge but I ran my wiring a little different than the manual showed. Does anyone know how to get that side panel off that's in the color illustration? I pulled on it but felt I was going to break it.

We have only had a few isolated issues where the units were dead on arrival. They were quickly replaced though. Other than that, zero issues. They have completely taken over gauge sales for the 6.0L and the 6.4L not to mention other makes.

I just had my truck in for service where the dealer performed recall # 08B06 to reprogram the PCM. Two parameters I used to be able to monitor with my Edge Insight, TCC Rat and Trans T, can no longer be read and instead now just display 'N/A'.

Anybody know how to get these readings back? I have the latest software upgrade to my Insight and am guessing the reprogram of the PCM is now preventing the reading of these parameters. I'm sure the data is still there, but the Insight just can't read it anymore. Anybody else having this issue or know what the fix is?

I have to add to this thread that in all my years of working on cars.... this is probably the nicest product I have ever installed. Easy to install.... easy to setup on the computer the way you want it.... the pod mount fits great.... no running wires and nylon hoses all over for different things.... just plug it in and you are on your way! I love mine!

I called Edge Products and they fixed the issue for me, so the Insight works correctly again. It ended up having nothing to do with the Ford recall to reprogram the PCM.

The latest firmware update for the Insight canceled the ability of the Insight to read some of the vehicle parameters, TCC Rat and Trans T in my case, so Edge had me update my unit again and they downloaded the previous version of the firmware onto the Insight which resolved the issue.
