Re: Edge Insight Gauge........any thoughts????????????

If you want to use the EGT probe, then yes you need to drill pre-turbo for it.

Re: Edge Insight Gauge........any thoughts????????????

I spoke with Kevin at Edge Products today. He confirmed with his head tech that yes the Ford probe on the 6.4 PSD could be used with the edge insight. He thought the wire colors would match up for a splice.

Re: Edge Insight Gauge........any thoughts????????????

You shouldn't need to splice the thermocoupler wires if the data is already being read by the PCM. All 3 EGT temps are already available.

The only real reason to install another thermocoupler is to find a better location.

Re: Edge Insight Gauge........any thoughts????????????

For whatever reason you need to use a probe. I only questioned if the First Factory one could be used. I don't know enough to dispute them. Do you know of another unit which does not require a probe?

What are the three EGT temp locations? Are any of them in the exhaust manifolds? Or pre-turbo?

Re: Edge Insight Gauge........any thoughts????????????

Dude, I posted that I spoke to them and was told you could use the Ford Factory Probe and splice it into the edge probe's wiring. The different mounts are shown on the website. I am not sure if you can get a plug rather than purchase their probe since that and a section of wire is all you need. I am leaning towards just purchasing their setup and using the Factory probe as suggested.

Re: Edge Insight Gauge........any thoughts????????????

I called Edge Products back to find out how to get a section of wire and plug to tap into the Factory probe . The Tech said the last Tech I spoke with was incorrect. With the 2008 Ford Edge Insight you do not need the probe. It reads from the Factory's probes. This is great news.

Re: Edge Insight Gauge........any thoughts????????????

I also spoke with a rep at Edge today and he stated that the Insight monitor does NOT need the optional EGT probe to display EGT readouts. Dieselgem--it sounds like you got good info. I am having a hard time on finding reasons not to buy this setup for everything it offers. Has anyone purchased this product yet? If so, what are your initial thoughts? Thanks again to all for your replies!!!

Re: Edge Insight Gauge........any thoughts????????????

The insight does not need an additional probe for the 6.4L.
