Thumbs up Edge Products

I have the Edge Evolution and have been very happy with the ease of use with the product! It monitors everything I ask, just by plugging into the ODB II port... Reads as No Drilling Required!!! The dash pod mount is a very close color match to the gray portions of the dash, so it is a completely clean install. It will also compensate for oversize tires, but the true speed will only be monitored on the Edge unit. 4 programmable control schemes, as well as custom programming available for the serious performance people!!! I have noticed a definite improvement in the fuel milage while towing, noting an increase from 11.1 to 11.6 mpg. I hope the performance continues to go so well!!!

Y'all talked me into it! I just ordered one today with the dash pod. One question I didn't see answered here though...what powers the thing? Does it run on batteries or is it powered from plugging it into the OMBD port?

No batteries - like you said, the power comes via the Onboard Diagnostics port.

Make sure you register the unit with Edge Products so that you can deal with their Customer Service if you need to. Also, you'll want to install the Fusion and Insight software and then pull down the latest updates for the unit's firmware.

Edge Insight with SCT Tunes

Fellas,
I am very interested in purchasing the Edge insight & EGT probe. My set up will consist of using SCT tunes and the edge insight as my monitor/gauge. I currently have the Edge Juice/Attitude. Couple questions:
1. Can i resuse the EGT probe from the juice module or would I have to use the Insight's probe? If so, is the hole the same size? It would be nice to not have to punch any more holes.
2. MOST IMPORTANTLY, I want to be able to monitor my temps independient of what the PCM is telling the insight. Is this possible? Or do i have to use ugly analog gauges? I read on another post that the Insight comes with a "black Box'' like the juice/attitude module. I assume this would only come with the insight if you order the EGT probe. I guess this is a converter for the input from the probe.
Any input on this would be greatly appreciated!! Oh yea, the edge attitude/juice is for sell

Someone said that you have to unplug the unit everytime you shut dow and plug it back in when you start. Is this true? Because I would think that would be kinda painful.

When you shut the truck off, the Insight shuts off. You do not have to unplug it.

I have had great customer service from Edge. They answer their phone and they respond to emails. The one problem I had was resolved quickly.

My story: The first time I plug the Insight in the ODB port it comes up fine. When I shut the truck off and exit the truck, when returning to the truck and starting the engine, the Insight will not start UNLESS I unplug the Insight and plug it back in. I have talked to Insight several times, they have sent me a new unit, updated the software and finally admitted they had no resolution for the problem. Others here have had the same problem with their 09s with no resolution. I like the gauge and put up with this but I have given up talking to Edge. They have always been helpful as far as they can, but just don't have a solution (or at least they didnt when I finally gave up). I may revisit the problem and contact Edge again or I may just try another companies product. YMMV.

My truck is a 2009. I believe I'll pass on this until they figure it out. I can't imagine having to unplug and plug in every time I start the thing.

Same problem with mine. They said they are not planning on fixing it since they are replacing the insight. This was last week when I was told that.
