First FORD

I have been breaking in my first Ford truck . I have to say after nothing but GM trucks I am quite impressed. Not quite seeing the mileage I expected but she's bone stock for now. Lookin towards the Six Gun tuner with PDA, but there is not alot of feed back so far. Overall I am not too excited about ditching the DPF and throwing the warranty out the window. Your input will help to makeup my mind.
Great site that seems to attract many more visitors than the other diesel sites. I look forward to yackin with you all.

With the DPF you won't see but 1-3 mpg with any tuner you install, if that. The only exceptions to this are offroad tunes that require removal of the DPF for offroad purposes.

Anyway, welcome to the board and hope you enjoy the truck as much as we do.

Based upon the recent flood of problems that seem to be tied into the Banks Six Gun, it would be prudent to stall off installing the Six Gun until some definitive answers are forthcoming.

"Recent Flood" ??? I have been following the Six Gun thread and have seen mention of 2-3 people that have had problems with there unit. Is there another source of failure that I have missed? Out of several hundred units I do not think 2-3 would be considered a flood.

You can suit yourself. However the failures are all coming within a few days of each other. Banks service is telling the owners that their's is the first time they have heard of the problems. Since there are serious questions related to the Six Gun and we have a new member (08AZF350SD) moving fast forward and looking for advice, we have an obligation to advise to take a second look or pause until the apparent problems have been identified.

The original statement was that it would be 'Prudent' to stall off installing until there are some answers. What on earth is wrong with being Prudent?? I had also planned on installing the Six Gun. But it would be foolish (at least for me) to install before these problems have been identified.

I agree... Flood isn't the word I'd use... and I'm one of those testing the unit! I have had a few glitches but nothing I'm really worried about. I love the performance gains... the truck rocks and I'm having a blast driving it! It shut off on me once and we still haven't tied that to the tuner. I have had a couple of P2002 errors but they are attributed to the air intake, not the tuner. Airdog had a complete shut down and removed the tuner - that's being investigated. W5DVC appears to have lost an engine but that is attributed to a massive coolant loss, not the tuner! If I read all this, I might sit back and wait a while. I'm not throwing in the towel, that's for sure... I've felt the performance gains and LOVE IT! It's up to you 08AZF350SD

Same here, I've had it about 2-3 weeks prior to anyone else (test truck) and haven't had any of the problems mentioned. So far I've been very happy with the power gains, mind you, it's not a spartan which I've also looked at and still am for that matter. But overall, I've been very happy.

For what it's worth, I've seen other posts on this board and other boards of people talking about their trucks just turning off for no reason. These were also stock trucks, no tunes or tuners at all. What caused those shutdowns, I don't know, never heard.

Thanks for your input. Now the million dollar question......have you scene a gain in fuel mileage? MY F350 has 3.55's and for what it does not have for low end it runs so well at 75 to 85 mph. I am at about 18 highway and a solid 15 to 15.5 city. That is why I am interested in not only power gains but in this day and age MPG is almost just as important.

In short "NO" - but i decided, and this just might be justification for the cost, if I can get 80 to 100 more horsepower and gobs of torque and keep my mileage the same... that's all I need!

Nope, no major MPG improvements here, maybe 0.5-1.5 myself. Others have reported seeing closer to 3 but don't know if it's hand calced or lie-o-meter or if it's even accurate.

You should see the same mileage you currently have maybe a hair more, but nothing to write home about.
