Talking HELP NEEDED

Hello;
I am new to the diesel forums and I just picked up an 08 F-250 HD and I need some help. I know a person selling a Spartan with the dash daq who wants to sell it for $400, but I need to buy a new license from Spartan. The license is $320 and I wanted to know if that is a good deal? I don't want to delete my DPF and I know that Spartan has at least 3 tunes with the DPF on. Can anyone tell me it is a good deal and does anyone have any good feedback on the Spartan tunes with the DPF on? I also wanted to know if it is worth it to buy a new exhaust and a cold air intake or is it just wasted money?

Thank you in advance and I hope those were not stupid questions.

don't bother with exhaust or intake unless you are going to tune it.

By tune do you mean delete the DPF? I don't want to do that I would like to have better fuel mileage and more hp and torque. Do you think this is a good deal for the Spartan and what is your take on Spartan?

Thank You

Your best bet is to run it stock or with the Banks if you want to leave the DPF on. You won't see any of the mileage gains that you see with the guys who went DPF delete, but I hear from Senix that the Banks does work well for what its advertised for.

Food for thought, but you're not gonna get much more power / mileage out of the truck unless you do the delete.

I'm not trying to make light of that either. Doing a delete effectively means you are insuring your truck against failure, b/c you are effectively voiding the warranty on the motor. As well, you'll have to face the law if it were to come crashing down on us.

That being said, my choice was to risk it.

Talking HELP NEEDED

Thank you guys for all of the help. I came across a Banks 6 gun with exhaust for less than the spartan. I decided to go with that for now. The fine really got me thinking and I will see how it goes. I think I will be happy with the Banks. I will be looking for the Ram Air to complete the kit. The guy still has the Spartan so If I don't like the Banks then I could sell and buy the Spartan.
Thanks again for all of the help.

The Spartan tuner has 4 performance tunes to run with the DPF: 40, 75, 120, & 150. They run very strong, mileage gains with an air intake are around 2mpg.

from what i understand the spartan is undetectable by the dealership. if you have problems put the factory dpf back on the truck and set the tuner to stock. is the spartan still for sale?
