Has anyone used the new Econ tuner that Hypertech has? I love everything about my truck EXCEPT the crappy mileage. I got 13.5mpg around town with my '07, and this one is getting 10.5mpg. And that's with the first regen at ~650 miles. I don't need more power, I just want my MPG to go up when I'm not towing, then I'd take it back to the stock tune. Also, has SCT come out with their economy tune yet? Thanks for the info guys.
I just installed the Hypertech Max Energy on my F350 yesterday. 6" lift and 35X13.50's. I do the same run every day 160kms. My normal lie-o-meter reading before was 19l/100kms;..... running the Max Energy on Stage 2, I was 15l/100kms both yesterday, and today. This is running at 105kms/h, empty.
I installed the Econ last week. Picked up about 2.5 mpg on program A. I'm gonna install program B today and I'll let you know the results. I emailed Hypertech and asked them what hp and torque improvements I would get and they didn't answer me. I can't find anything on the net either.

they told me yhat the a & b tunes were the same as the stage 1 and stage 2 from the max energy model. So far..I am dissapointed in mileage...combined city/highway.not towing..virtually unchanged ..right around 13.4. Power increase was very substantial...but I wasn't looking for that. I would sell mine to first guy to put $200 in front of me....but I am too lazy to advertise.

Fuel program A gives a gain of 44 HP and Fuel program B gives a gain of 80 HP. Now Hypertech calls them programs A & B because we don't want people pick the based on horse power. Since this is an economy tuner Hypertech wants people to try both tunes to see which one nets the best fuel economy with their driving style.

Like the Max Energy the ECON is backed by a 30 day money back guarantee. So if you're driving style doesn't match up well with the tunes then you can return it where ever you purchased it for a full refund within 30 days.
I tried all three tunes on my 450. Have Airaid intake and a sliding rear cover over the bed. Have the new airdam as well on a job 2 build. I found the three tunes to work in the power world but my milage went down. If I drive very gently I get 12-13 around town on the lieometer with the tune back to stock. The best I ever got with any of the tunes was 10-11. The truck still pulls great with the stock tune. I did have 3 regens that I noticed in 3300 miles with the tune. I just pulled the tune out and I will see if I get regens. I did tow last weekend with the 3rd tume ( max ) my tow behind toy hauler. 10k + lbs. It did it in style. The lieometer showed 7-9.
It was on slight inclines. I did merge into traffic with ease, boy this 450 is the tow machine of choice!! I can wait to get a real exhaust from the turbos back and let this enginge breath.

Thanks for that info. I got a slight increase in fuel mileage with the higher setting. But I definitely got the 2.5 mpg increase with the lower setting. I have an AFE highflow filter in the oem box and a DPF back Magnaflow 5 inch exhaust. I don't know if that helped any.

Well..the place i bought mine had a 2 week return policy..which i didn't realize when I bought it. So now I am over 30 days anyways. But I now have more data..since I installed an EDGE Insight...so I know when my truck regens. The other day..I reset mileage computer while cruising on highway..average quickly settled in at about 18.5 mpg..empty, 65-75 mph, little wind, pretty flat. Regen hit...right down to 16.0-16.5 average...which means it must be down around single digits when regening. Is there anything in the Hypertech tuning that will effect frequecy of regen? Also...more general question...does slow city driving produce more frequent regens that fast highway?

If you get the ECON tuner.... Will it calibrate for tire size change? And can it be used on more than one truck?
The ECON doesn't give the option to correct for tire sizes and it can only be used on one truck at a time. If you're looking to correct for tire sizes then you should look at the Max Energy, but again it can only be used on one truck at a time.
So if you flash your truck back to stock, is there still a crumb left in the ECM to tell Ford that you messed with it, meaning they can void your warranty? The old trucks you could flash back and pull the batteries, and it would clear any codes. I only want the economy setting, but I don't want to void my warranty.
I am thinking of purchasing the econo tuner. I only want the economy and tow tune, not a big horsepower tune. I was told by the shop that the Hypertech is the only programmer that does not void your warranty. Not sure if this is true.

I would get that in writing! And then buy the tuner.

Actually you can go online and pay a little extra and Hypertech will upload the added options ie: tire size, tranny etc to your econ model.I'm gonna do that with mine.
