Installed Superchip

I installed the superchip tuner 2 days ago and here is the report:
The chip is set to the performance setting which gives you aprox. 80 more HP and 150 ft/lbs of torque. The biggest difference noticed is the obvious increase in power. The truck runs much better. The chip also adjusts shift points and it feels much stronger when shifting through gears. The top speed limiter has been either removed or increased and I have had no check engine codes or any issues that one might think prior to installation. The trucks does put out quite a bit of black smoke when you do hard accelerating but mine did black smoke before the chip. (It was taken in prior for the smoke and they said nothing was wrong) I know everyone is looking for mileage increases and I do not have those numbers yet. I will say that the computer has read 12.1 since the installation of the lift and 35 inch tires. It now reads 13.8 but we all know the old fashion way is the most accurate and I am working on it. I also admit my driving habits will be hard on the mpg reading as well. So in closing, I would recommend the tuner as you will enjoy the added power and many features it offers including adjusting speedo and downloading truck specs onto your home computer for review plus updates through the USB cable. At my purchase price of 370.00 plus tax from 4 wheel parts it does not cost much. (keep in mind they cut me a deal since I have given them 12000.00 in the last 2 years). Well, I hope this helps anyone considering tuners and I will keep you informed.

Re: Installed Superchip

Superchips tells us tire size adjustment will come in a software update later (which is free).

As for the regen's, mine seems to regen about the same amount, once a tank or so.

Re: Installed Superchip

How do you feel about the power gain? Worth the money?

Re: Installed Superchip

Worth the money yes, but not nearly as impressed with the 1808 in the 6.4l as I was/am with the 1805 in my 6.0l Excursion. My Excursion with a 6" lift and 35" Nittos will blow the doors off my new truck. Oh well, it is more fun to spank the rice burners with the Excursion anyway.

Re: Installed Superchip

It was worth the $399 after rebate for the hopefully safe power gain. I was unhappy with all the downshifting while towing, and almost all of that is gone. It will do until more fuel efficient tunes become available, and keep me from thinking of switching to a GM or Dodge product.

Re: Installed Superchip

Hey Guys, Well mileage still sucks at 13. The performance is much better than stock but not like it was before the 08 pre clean air crap. I will say that I have now learned to live with all the black smoke. I now enjoying smoking older years as they thought those days were over. They even stop once and a while and ask what mods I have done. The truck regens the same and no codes have been displayed. I can say there is no sign of soot on bumper or lower body panel as with previous years. Hope this helps.
