Sure, there's nothing wrong with the S&B intake.. The stock intake dosen't throw codes either. Only those that increase air flow abundantly will likely throw a CEL do to having MORE air flow than stock and/or S&B. up to 300% more.

On another diesel site, Spartan is performing dyno test of all the major CAI & filters out right now..We'll see which one makes the most power.

after reading this thread I convinced a buddy to buy the s&b over the afe thinking it would be a better product. I helped him with the install and once we got it in it was an okay fit. But he called me on his way home and he told me he had a check engine light on his dash. He went by auto zone thinking it was a fluke, had it cleared and within another 5 miles the light came on.

I installed the AFE not knowing about any problems or even reading about them, just listened to what spartan said i asked him whatevers best, bc they seem to know there ****. I put the intake on last wendesday and still have no check engine light or anything. I like the sound and was a easy install...

S&B is not code free, I am having the regular P2002 code every 2000 kilometers. Just learning to live with it as anoying as it is.

AFE is working on the problem...they claim its a computer issue. Ford has been having all sorts of new problems with this new system and these damn DPF's...new technology brings new bugs and issues.

I'm still going with the AFE even if it does throw CEL codes.

"more airflow" = less actual filtering

More Air Volume = Less Restriction
Filtration is subject to material's usable Area, Make-Up and Density.
Having better air flow or volume doesn't necessarily mean less filtration.
