Looking at fords again....

Hey guys, been awhile since i got rid of my 04 that was a nightmare!. I swore i would never look at another blue oval. But the new 6.4s seem to be pretty solid and the cab is to die for. My question is i hear alot of guys adding what seems like a ton of extra power. What i dont hear guys talking about beefing up the trannies. How much power can the stock tranny hold? No boosted launches and nothing crazy. What are guys dynoing these 6.4s at? Thanks !!

If you get one with a dually rear end they tend to be able to carry more. But what ever you do don't call them fat or they won't carry anything. Getting one that can cook is hit or miss these days. Make sure you take her for a long test drive first.

Hmmm so when adding power to the 6.4 does the tranny need to be beefed up? If so at what level?

One thing to consider, Just about any mods to a 6.4 will void the warranty. Ford ain't playing. The tranny can't handle much extra power. How about a V10 with the "cab to die for" without the 6.4 BS? Muntu, and homepukes have some good ideas too. I like my dually with the big butt.

No, the trans is SOLID behind the 6.4L as long as the tuning is good. They are holding 500+ without a problem in daily drivers.

The trans is one the most reliable monsters on the 08+ SD's.

Everybody on another site running 275-311 hp tunes have had Zero problems.
