Newest flash + Edge juice w/Attitude = Toooo many regens

I recently bought my 08 f250 cc 6.4 4x4 in october 08.

I did a bit of looking around for info on tuners, and came across the edge unit. The initial feedback from others on this forum and others made the edge unit look VERY promising.

I bought the edge unit and was VERY satisfied with it.
A few months later I got a notice in the mail stating to take the truck to the dealer for a new ecu update.
I made my appointment, took the edge unit off a few days before to let the ECU go through it's courses before I took it in. After getting the truck back from the dealer the truck ran much better with the new programing installed. I drove the truck for a few days with no problems at all.

I then re-installed the edge unit and all seemed fine the first day. The next day I noticed the regen came on and thought "no biggie". I was on the lowest setting "mileage", and it regen'd (2) more times which i found odd, because it never did that before. So I ran the truck for 2 days on the stock setting with NO regens. After noticing the truck was back to normal, I tried to run the truck on mileage again.....and once more it was hitting regen.

I took the edge unit off the truck and the regens stopped.

Just to clarify....I did update the edge unit. Everything was installed correctly, the truck runs perfect with the edge unit installed. Just that the truck keeps hitting regen when the edge unit is operating. The higher the edge setting the quicker the regen notice comes on.

I was pro edge when i first got it. Not anymore, not if it keeps doing this to the truck.

Im due for my new reflash. I have the EDGE Juice W/attitude too, the last thing I want is to have issues like you are having. I noticed EDGE is now a supporting vendor here on this forum. Maybe they can chime in???

Lets see if they do chime in.???

I love my edge unit it works very well, but i will not keep it in the truck if it keeps throwing the truck into regen.

I have the edge/juice for a month or so on an 09 with the latest flash updates - It doesn't regen any more with it on. Although I have only ran it on the lower settings.

What are the particulars to your settings? What is your low boost settings at? Do you have the cold engine setting on? These will effect how much soot is created and how fast it regens.

PS- how was your mileage effected at what settings, and which did you like best( of coarse this is before you had the recent regen issue). I can't seem to get enough history to see what is the best setting for me and mileage.

Cheers.

Around town AND highway. The regens complete then come back on later on. As soon as I set the edge to stock setting it stops the constant regens.

The edge is setup for 100% back down till it warms up....max boost setting is 45psi but never hit that high. I am driving around in stock right now and it has not gone into regen at all. The min I set to anything higher than stock it regens within 25 min.

Unhappy Installation error

I just installed the Edge Juice with Attitude today and all went well. I went ahead and did the internet upgrade but when I re installed the Attitude I failed to wait for it to update the juice module and started the truck. Needless to say the truck died and won't restart, now the attitude cannot connect to the Juice. I put the truck back stock and it runs fine. So what did I do and how can I fix it?

Thanks

Sounds like you interrupted the flash sequence and that essentially wiped the programing from the unit. You'll be lucky if the unit can be fixed.

Can you elaborate on that just a bit?

The tech guy at Edge sent some data to the attitude then I tried again to update the Juice module but it didn't work. The Juice module is damaged so I sent back to Edge for a re flash or new unit if it can't be fixed. Since I just installed it they are going to cover it under warranty even though it was my mistake. I will only be out the shipping charges and a few days.

Do you think the edge is the cause of the extra regens? I just had my truck reflashed and have no programer yet. I get to see "drive to clean" a whole lot more now than ever before. I did notice that when I use Shell fuel that regens are farther between than they used to be and my mileage goes up between .2 -.3 mpg on the lie "O" meter using their fuel too!

There is no telling what the dealer changed on your OEM Map. If your regen'n to much then you got a dirty tune on your edge. In other words the map on the edge is doing something dirty and causing your DPF to collect to much soot which inturn is triggering the regen. I would investigate and see if there is a newer map from edge or even better, If someone else could write you a better map and flash your programmer with it so it can send it to your truck. I am not real familar with the edge, but if you hook it to your computer, I am sure you could find a way to send info to it that you want.

With these programmers, you really have to watch your maps and make sure that they are tuned to your engine. What works great on one may not work so hot on another. It really helps to tweak it to each engine. I mess around with Crotch Rockets/ Sport Bikes. Everyone I have ever had I have put a programmer on and tweak it my self. Its a little easier as these programmer you can hook to your laptops and put your bike on a stand and go through the gears and look at your HP/Torque curves and tweak them. Kind of Hard to do that with an F250/350 truck huh! but anyways the same idea applies.
