obd2 port problems

just purchased a sct livewire 9625OR, i am unable to istall this unit, 2 error codes on the programmer, one states low voltage, the other read strategy failed. I spoke with sct and they stated that some dealers cut one of the obd wires on the way to the computer. This wire is # 13 on the obd plug. Does anyone know where this wire terminates on the computer plug? Does anyone have a diagram of this? Has anyone even heard of a dealership cutting the wires to prevent programming via the obd port? Thanks in advance.

if the dealership deliberately cut a wire on my truck, dealing with ford would be the least of their worries. They have no legal right to tamper with the truck. If you went to an auto/truck repair shop and they tried to use the port to work on your vehicle, it wouldnt work. Isnt the OBD2 part of the emmission system? If so then they violated federal law by tampering on your truck.

This makes this thread ever so interesting.

Cutting the wire is a poor business decision... seeing the wire repaired will trigger some sort of interest. Having the owner visit a different dealership will create some concerns regarding extra time spent over a problem that should have never existed...

But... to state that cutting the wire is tampering with the emissions system is erroneous - especially when the ONLY reason to moan is that it keeps someone from <GASP> tampering with the emissions system...

This is a double edged sword... and I think that this point should be remembered before we cast too many stones.

how about those of us that run the AUTO ENGUNITY software thru the obd2 port? That does not do any programming. I am pointing out that the OBD2 isutilized by some states now to perform the emissions part of the vehicle inspection. Since that is the case, it is therefor part of the emission system and it is very easy to draw that conclusion. Not everyone runs programmers.... If my truck feels different or there is an error, the first thing that I do is to hook it up and diagnose it. I am well informed prior to visiting the dealership.
