Re: By-pass oil filter

I have personal experience with the Amsoil and FS2500. I have to say after running Amsoil for years on many different applications from pickups to heavy equipment and seeing what the FS2500 does in comparison I will be buying the FS2500 from now on. Not that the Amsoil is an inferior product, it works fine. The FS2500 is simply amazing in its performance and worth every penny no matter what the application. I also prefer the clean and easy installation of the FS2500. The only draw back would be availability of replacement filters but if you are only needing to change them every 10-20k then it really is not a big deal.

Re: By-pass oil filter

Can anybody tell me where to tap into the oil line for a bypass filter. A picture would be great if possible. I looked under the hood but didn't see the oil pressure sending unit. Thought I would ask here before I started crawling around underneath. Thanks GT

Re: By-pass oil filter

The best way is to replace the cap to the oil filter with one that has an AN fitting on it that would enable you to connect a oil line then to a FILTER. I had this set up on my 2006 F250 with a oil bypass.

Look at the Aluminum Billet Oil Fill and Oil Filter Caps for BMK11 By-Pass Filtration System.

http://www.amsoil.com/StoreFront/bf.aspx

They are the same on the 6.4

When I get the chance the bypass is going on the 6.4

Re: By-pass oil filter

After many phone calls and much research on the most common bypass units available, I too will be getting the fs-2500. It hands down filters better than the rest.

Re: By-pass oil filter

For those of us who have not installed a bypass filter yet, I'd like to hear from others where they mounted the bypass filter. Somewhere on the engine block would be sweet since it minimizes line flex. Frame mounting works, but the lines are long, and runs the risk of impact damage from hanging down. Anyone consider mounting behind the grill?

Re: By-pass oil filter

The FS 2500 filters are expensive at around 26.95 apiece but if you change your oil less often it might be worth it. They claim to be very efficient filters. I've asked my wife to buy me the FS2500 for Xmas.

Re: By-pass oil filter

Mounted mine right behind the the front licence plate. The filter is on it's side but it only makes a mess every second oil change. It's in an easy place to spray a little varsol. Oil line routing was easy as well. I took off the licence bracket to drill the holes. Needed to use an air drill as the space is a little cramped. Once you had the holes started you could drill from the bottom with more room. Hardest part of the job was finding where to put it, once that's done it's easy going. The other hard part is seeing your oil on the dip stick. Takes about a week to get some colour in it for an accurate level check! Cheers GT

Re: By-pass oil filter

I finally installed the fs2500 last night. truck had 300 miles on it and the oil was already black and really nasty looking. I saved the drained oil and poured it back in after the install was compleat. I drove approx. 45 minutes and when I got home, I checked the oil level and to my surprise the oil on the dipstick looked as if I had dipped it into a brand new bottle of oil. This thing really works as well as they claim! As soon as I saw that, I placed another order for another unit to be installed on the transmission.

Re: By-pass oil filter

I just can't figure why they are so expensive considering how uncomplicated it looks.Still getting one though.
