Re: By-pass oil filter

Installed mine last night. Best location I could figure was horizontally on the reinforcement on the underside of the body behind the R/F wheel well splash guard. Keeps it tucked in for protection and the lines as short as possible. There just isn't any room for ANYTHING on these trucks.

Re: By-pass oil filter

truck now has just over 1100 miles on it and the oil is only a shade darker than brand new oil!

I took off the licence bracket to drill the holes. Needed to use an air drill as the space is a little cramped. Once you had the holes started you could drill from the bottom with more room. Hardest part of the job was finding where to put it, once that's done it's easy going. The other hard part is seeing your oil on the dip stick. Takes about a week to get some colour in it for an accurate level check! Cheers GT </div></div>

do you have any pics ??

Re: By-pass oil filter

More Trivia:

Just to compare theirs to other filter companies, I talked to AMSOL tech support yesterday. He stated their bypass filters are rated at 5 microns.

Re: By-pass oil filter

don't know why they would say that, it says 2 micron in the filter it self.

right from there web sight. https://www.amsoil.com/storefront/bf.aspx

Higher Efficiency
AMSOIL EaBP Filters have an efficiency of 98.7 percent at two microns. At normal operating RPMs the EaBP Filter will filter all of the oil in a typical five quart sump in less than 10 minutes.

Amsoil is giving the nominal figures not absolute. The Amsoil elements are only approx. 67% efficient at trapping anything under 10 microns. I had there dual remote with a eao-26/eabp110 on my 7.3L and was not all that impressed with there stuff.

Re: By-pass oil filter

Do a search on the internet. There are independent labs doing the research, just look for one that has tested whatever filter you are interested in.

With over 29K on my truck, is it too late to get this kit? I will not have the cash to do so until after the first of the year, and by that time I will be close to 35K on her. I change my oil between 5K and 8K, and use Motorcraft filters. I am all about adding options, but this will have to wait a few months if it is not too late. Thoughts?

It would not be too late to install. It will still help in the long run increase engine life.

Is there anything to be gained by changing the factory oil filter out half way through a use cycle. For instance, if I am going to change my oil at 7,000 miles, would it accomplish anywhere near the same level of clean as a by-pass if I changed the factory filter at 3,500 miles? I know it will not hurt anything, but how much do I stand to gain?

Did we decide where to best mount the FS25000???? For some reason I have a hard time with a horizontal mount. It doesn't seem 'right'! But if we have some success, I'm game......

Since the system is under pressure, it really doesn't matter how its mounted, other than its a mess to change filter elememnts.

I am considering a Bypass Oil filter. Has anyone at any time on any diesel engine, had a warranty claim denied or service dept trouble due to a bypass oil filter? It seems like it would be an easy target to a service manager to blame engine problems on.

I have found one place the FS2500 is sold online for $719, are there any other places?
