Poor mpg after tune and delete? Possible tuner issue?

I updated my mini-maxx and installed my dpf delete. I was using it with dpf on until I deleted. When I deleted I took the tuner off and followed the instructions to remove tune. Now with dpf off I re installed the tuner and the tunes are tow, street and performance and the tuner status says its in recovery mode? does this mean I do not actually have the correct tune on my vehicle? if so can I buy another micro sd and download the correct tune for my truck? I have really poor mileage around 12-13mpg city and 14 highway towing 2k pounds. I figured id be doing better?

The tuner being in recovery mode doesn't make sense though? I also hear people saying they get 20+ mpg after tune and delete?

Our customers have been doing much better than that after installing our DPF Delete kits.

All the fuel economy is locked into the tuning. Fuel injection timing, Fuel volumes, backpressure control, transmission shift strategies...these are things that impact fuel economy. If the truck doesn't pick up a ton of mpg, call your tuner guys and see what happened.

If you don't get a satisfactory answer, give us a call.

Have you posted on H&S's forum? They monitor and usually have program advice.

My Spartan tuned 6.4L did not light the world on fire by any means. I would get ~16-17 mpg on the highway empty if the wind cooperated and got 11 mpg towing ~8,000 lbs. Generally I was getting 15 mpg for average driving. I find the 6.4L to be a fickle beast, there are some great trucks and there are some real junkers. My Spartan is now on a truck that I would say falls in the great category and definitely outperforms mine.

That's why I'm running a stock 6.7L that can get 18-20 mpg on the highway empty and 13-14 mpg towing the same load.

Unfortunately that's not an option for me. I love the new super duties but I maxed my budget buying this used one.

The emissions technology allows the 6.7 to get better mpg's stock.

But personally I like my 6.4 for now. Does everything I want it too.
