Pre-luber and the like...

I'm thinking about adding a pre(post)-luber setup to my 2009 F350 6.4, particularly to help with turbo cool down. Any recommendations or cautions from others who have added them?

Thanks,

Pete

Oh come on, surely I'm not the only one here interested in making my $50k truck last vs. illegally removing emissions components, tuning for more power and running it into the ground...

All the rest of us are lawless criminals hellbent on destroying our truck and enviroment as quickly as possible!
If only we had used a preluber! The humanity!

Cool

If I was "green", I wouldn't be driving an 8,700#+ diesel truck, with a 7,000#+ gas truck as backup.

I do however want to make this truck last for a long service life which is why I'm thinking of a pre-post-luber type setup to get some oil flowing before startup and after shutdown, particularly for the turbos. Surely I'm not the only one interested in such a setup?

As for the rest of the truck, I'm happy with the power of the engine in stock tune, it did fine pulling an 8,000# trailer while hauling a 2,000# camper, and so far the DPF does not seem to present any issues.

I've read quite a few complaints about the DPF, most seem to be about 2008 vehicles and so far I haven't seen any of the problems noted on my 2009, so perhaps they fixed them.

My only complaint is the transmission, as I tend to hate automatics, and this tranny seems like it might be ok with a bit of tuning of the horrid stock shift points.

I have used prelubs on industrial and race motors. They are very worth while in those applications. They would never hurt to install but your turbo will ast longer if you use a cool down cycle. I prefer ones that use temp but timer types are better than nothing. For longevity I have installed bypass filter, coolant filter and synthetic fluids to prolong my truck. I would rather have it last a long time thansled pull or... since I use it to tow my 12000 lb 5th wheel
