Quick question

I installed my AFE this weekend and it was great until I got out of the truck just now and when I turned the key off you could hear it continue to pull air for a good 5 seconds. Its never done this before and now does it each time. Anyone know what its doing? It almost sounds like the turbo is slowly spinning down and pulling air...

The truck doesnt have anything but the AFE currently

That is something I've not heard. It didn't do that when you first put the AFE on or you just didn't hear/notice it?

If you read your diesel supplement I seem to recall that there is the possibity that you could hear some noise at shut-off. I believe that was put in place to protect the electronics.

Cool Turbo spin down...

The turbos take a while to spin down and the aftermarket CAI's are not as baffled as the stock intake. It was there with the stock intake - you just couldn't hear it. You should stand beside the exhaust output after a DPF/DOC Delete has been installed. The whine after you shut the truck off sounds like a jet engine winding down...

very smart, that way the sensors don't have a chance of being broken on removal. Just unplug and smile.
Just like jimd said. You heard the turbos still spinning after shutoff, very common.

Yeah, I thought of that after the stock stuff was removed. I had a hell of a time with the last sensor in the line but did get it out finally. I'll probably order a set and put them in the stock system. I think I'm going to have to re-install it in February for an annual inspection sticker... PITA! Good luck with yours... you're going to love it!

SDcarguy,
What is the part # for those egt sensors? Are they all the same? I'd like to get a set for mine; that post DPF is a SOB to get out.
BTW that sound is normal and the spartan tune is going to put a smile on your face a mile Wide :-))

I ordered 3 of
8C3Z-12B591-D from Ford Parts Center at 56.57 each plus shipping. I talked to their tech and he said these were the 3.
