Safe Pre-turbo exhaust gas temperatures

Was wondering what is a safe constant EGRTA temps for the 6.4?

What about short runs like less than 30 seconds at WOT?

Also for people that monitor their stock trucks temps, what do the temps run for pulling a load or empty wide open throttle?

Thanks,

Bryan

spartan set the alarm on my dashdaq at 1600, so i'd say anything above that for extended periods is bad

mine routinely sees 1300 towing 18000 pounds and I beleive Ford defuels the engine at 1350.

My rig is typically 17,000 lb. Driving mountain passes I've seen temps easily reach 1400. I use an Edge Evolution on setting #1 (economy) and I set the alarm to 1500. I've never hit the alarm as the defueling safety program kicks in between 1400 and 1430. When that happens, the temp will drop down to the high 1200 for a little while (about 30 seconds), then it will start raising again.
If a regen happened shortly prior to such full power climbing, the temperatures remain a bit lower (since they relate to exhaust backpressure AND EGR activities). But, in general, I ease off the gas pedal a bit when the temps are approaching the high 1300 to prevent the safety defueling to kick in.
