Re: so far whats the best

Researching this myself. Superchips has one that gives some HP bump but SCT has a bit more ponies to it. I was really interested in the SCT one due to the HP increase but have some concerns as to regen, economy tuning, towing etc. You can try to ask Innovative Diesel but I have had zero luck getting anything more than "Our phones ring off the hook, we are too busy".
I am going to hold out until someone really figures out how a chip will react, longterm, with all this emissions stuff. And after reading the posts about the poor guy who just put a new intake on, I have some concerns.

Re: so far whats the best

A friend of mine emailed edge and they said that they are expecting an End of August, Beginning of september release date for the 6.4 Juice/Attitude. They said "It is worth waiting for" so i dont know if thats sales pitch or goodness, but thats the story.

Re: so far whats the best

I tried the Superchip model and I could not tell much difference in any mode. I went back to stock mode when I found out you could not tow over 6000 lbs in tow mode. Why would someone have a 1 ton truck and be limited to tow 6000 lbs.? That is all I use my truck for is towing. I will wait until something better comes out. I loved the one in my 6.0 night and day difference.

Re: so far whats the best

Of the ones I have tried so far (SCT, Superchips, Bullydog), SCT is the clear winner. The power and shifting is far superior to the others. The next one I want to try is the Hypertech unit. They have some great numbers on it and claim you can tow in the 114hp extreme setting. Also, its almost half the price of the SCT standard unit. Might be worth looking into.

Exactly. Had the same issue with my Superchips tuner on my F150 so if it's the same for the 6.4 that has to count them out for me.

Re: so far whats the best

Here's my experience with Superchips. There may be better out there, but it is doing what I wanted mostly, more power for towing.

Just dont tow more than 6000 lbs unless you go back to stock mode. 6K is nothing on a 1ton truck.

Re: so far whats the best

well im not really sure but i hear the bully dog is supposed to be one of the best but again i do not have it top compare. I have a MBRP dual exhaust with AFE intake (no problems with the intake) and i noticed a big difference already.

Re: so far whats the best

is it a waste to get a tuner with a 6 speed? i know a lot of them change shift points. Sorry for dumb question im new at this. Looking to get one for my 6.4l but unsure of which one to get due to the fact that mines a six speed.

Re: so far whats the best

No, it's definitely not a waste on a manual truck. The shifting aspect is only part of the gain, it's actually done to support the extra power. You'll love the results of the SCT in a 6spd truck, just as much as an auto.

Re: so far whats the best

THX FOR YOUR RESPONSE. DOES THE SCT CHANGE THE SPEEDO FOR BIGGER TIRES? WHAT DO THINK OF THE EDGE TUNER COMING OUT?

Re: so far whats the best

There are adjustments for tire size and gear ratio, but it only changes the shifting schedule.

If the Edge is a module, I have my doubts on how well it will control the engine and trans computer. With the 6.0L, and especially the 6.4L, complete engine and trans control is necessary. Even other programmers that I've tested are slipping the trans pretty bad.
