No if's and's or but's about it; the Spartan Phalanx Tuner is by far a mind blowing transformation to a poor mileage beast of a truck! After I installed all of my equipment, I took the truck for a ride and the new power is sick! I am running the 210v2 for everyday driving and I will post the fuel mileage in a week. Spartan is a great choice!

Any further feedback? Just thought i would check in to see how things were going with the new tuner and also your fuel mileage.

I have 35x13.00x20 Toyo Open Country's and was getting 13.4mpg pre Spartan, but now post Spartan, I'm getting 16.3mpg around town, and 18.2mpg hwy. I am running the 210 tune and it has been awesome! I switch to the 150 tune while pulling my 14,000lb Fifth Wheel, just because I have some mountain driving and the Exhaust temp can get pretty high if you stand on it for awhile in 210. I use the 150 just so I never experience teh dreaded "DE-FULE"! Still happy!

Are you still running the stock exhaust? I get 6mpg pulling and 9 empty.

No way, that's all I can say... too many warnings from moderators. google or yahoo search spartan diesel technologies for more info or go through "dfuser" here on this site (see post #3). He sells them also

I will check into it but i have had my truck over a year with only 10k on it i drive my trusty 7.3 that get 15mpg cant afford to drive the thing i love the truck just cant deal with the fuel millage and my dealer cant help its had the rad done for a leak and the update flash and it got 14mpg then went down hill since and back to 9mpg. I pull my race car trailer to a race that's 250 miles away and cant make it there and home with out stopping for fuel 38gal tank SAD. How much mpg did you get after adding the tunner?

I don't have Spartan yet. I have researched this to death and no one seems to have issues with these things. Fuel mileage will start at 2-3mpg better and go all the way to 5 or 6 better depending on how you drive and which Spartan tune you use as the higher ones do better. GM trucks cannot take the higher tunes on the factory Allison cause there only designed for around 500hp. In order to run the higher tunes they must beef up the tranny. The Torque Shift can handle up to around 600hp or so. I believe these numbers are correct but if not someone will correct me. The one thing i know for sure is the Torque Shift is much stronger a stock Allison. Allison however has plans to upgrade their tranny in the next couple of years. I hear they may be going as high as 8 speeds but not sure.

That info is correct sawtooth, except the Allisons can't handle that much power stock. I have 2 buddies with 07's and they limped their trannys on 100hp tunes. That seems to be the breaking point. So I'd say they can't handle 400+ hp. The 08+ Torqueshifts are handling 500-600 all day long. On another site they have been dynoing a truck at 680 hp on all stock parts. Even the Spartan guys have Suncoast parts waiting but they havn't destroyed their stock tranny either. This is after all their beta testing and 100's of dyno and street runs (and the infamous burn-out contest).

Is the spartan a reprogramer or does it piggy back the stock? was wondering if it leaves a foot print? i have an extended warrenty just to be on the safe side but dont really want to viod it. I have buddys at ford dealers but dont know much about the spartan
As far as what type of tuner the Spartan is;
It is a flash tuner. It saves the factory settings and installs the Spartan settings.(Which are the Ford settings tweaked a little/lot) It does not leave a footprint! For any questions you guys have;
Get it from the horses mouth, not mine! Spartan Diesel Technologies
You will not be sorry! I get great MPG's and still have the hidden capability for those Duramax's and Cummings with far more done than a flash tuner!

It replaces the stock programming on the truck. The stock programming is supposed to be backed up prior to installation of the Spartan programming. As long as the programming is installed it's detectable. If you re-upload the stock programming it's supposed to be undetectable. If you goto the dealer with the Spartan or any other tuner installed, you CAN void your warranty if the dealer feels like voiding it.
