Well first tank of fuel has been burned. Mileage was better than before but not as good as i hoped. The computer said 19.9 but I hand calculated at 17.6mpg. Now that being said I normally get 15 (hand calculated) on this particular trip with the way I drove it so i'm looking at a 2.5mpg improvment. Not terrible but the computer kinda got my hopes up. Normally the computer reads around 1mpg too high but now its a little over 2 high. Its weird that the new programming changed this. Does anyone know why? I'm hoping that the next tank will be better once the computer has learned and everything is settled in. By the way that number comes from 85% hwy, 15%city. Hwy running 70mph. I drove this run with a light foot with only 1 short acceleration from the on ramp to get on the hwy. Power is amazing as when I did this the rear fought hard to stay connected to the payment. Its like the truck lost 2000lbs of weight.

By the way I'll be driving this weekend about 800 miles so will post back with more info.

Not nearly as much smoke as i imagined. Actually only see a little if 3/4 or more throttle. As for mileage I can only say I cleared the computer and drove for 104 miles down flat interstate and hovered around 21mpg. Now is that right well i don't know. I do know that normally the needle is a good bit further off the full mark during that trip so i'm very positive the mileage is better just don't know how much better. Before, the computer on that same trip would say 16.5mpg so obviously i'm hoping the computer is close. My truck now feels like it can breath and feels very relaxed on the hwy.
Thats great! How long did it take you remove/install the tube?

Did you happen to get the 250 or 275 tune with your package? If so, they are supposed to get a little more MPG. Like you said, 2.5MPG improvement is huge, plus your making an extra 210HP. I'd call that a great purchase.

Love it

I've very happy with the gains so don't get me wrong. Just got a little too excited when i was seeing up to 21mpg on the computer. Anyway the truck now feels very light and fast and much more sporty. It is a blast to drive. I'm asking the wife each night if i need to make another grocery run. When i get back she says "where you been" and i just smile.

Mileage Report

OK so I took a trip this weekend from NC to OH and headed up I77 through the mountains of WV. Some pretty steep hills to say the least and I was loaded only with passangers. On the way up I kept it between 65-70 and returned a 17.8mpg via hand calculated numbers. Coming back I ran mostly 75 mph with some 80mph and returned 16.2mpg for the return. Now last trip with the factory programming I was at between 14 and 14.6 mpg. Looks like mpg are definitly up but i'm not going to see the 4+ improvement like some others are seeing. Either way the improvement is great and the power is amazing. I can actually be running 70mph up some of those big hills and apply the pedal with no down shift and the truck just lurches forward from all the added torque. Much easier to drive for sure. So far very pleased with the Spartan setup.

Sawtooth,
Can you share an update. I am about to make the purchase and I wanted to check back in and see if you are still loving your Spartan tuned PSD.

Thanks

Yeah I'm still very happy. I'm actually only running the 75 tune now but still am amazed at the extra power and fuel economy. I ran the 210 for about a month but the power seemed kinda crazy and i'm concerened about the longevity of the engine. I've had no problems but plan on keeping this truck for a long time and just can't understand how they make this much power without severely reducing the life of the engine. Its also hard not to jump on the throttle when you know all those ponies are just a touch away. At one point i was thinking i had a coolant leak somewhere because i was just a little low in the bottle but over the past few weeks i've noticed no change since i filled it back up. Fuel mileage has also improved since I hit the 13K or 14K mark as now i'm in the mid 18's on the hwy.

That's a good report. I really need to get my Spartan tunes uploaded.

i am sitting at 28K/700 hours and havn't really noticed any big changes, I think at around 10K you are broke it. Only thing that can help is your driving habits or some tuning.
