Post Tuner

I have an 2008 F-250 Lariat and was wondering if I installed a tuner in my truck would the factory know I installed a tuner and void my warranty? Watchin all these videos and reading everyone's enjoyment of a tuner has me itchin to get one. I have 10k on my truck and bought the extended warranty,so I don't want to void it.

Figure it this way, if they want to find evidence of a tuner they are going to find evidence of a tuner weather it is connected or not. These 6.4's are showing that they are a very hardy engine even with people running tuners. I have two friends that have them. One is a job one that is bone stock and the other is a job 3 that has 80,000 miles on it with half of them with a tuner and no problems with either one. Just be aware that something could happen and if you go in on the flat bed with the tunes programed you may be out of luck.

Why is it so many people want to "Play outside of the box, but expect the box to protect them for doing so"?
As the old saying goes, "If you are going to Play, be prepared to Pay"

With our SCT device, there will be no evidence that the truck was programmed once you have returned to stock. Return to stock before going to the dealer, so that the truck is easier to diagnose for an issue. You can take your truck back to the dealer for various issues, not related to tuning. So, you are better off returning to stock so there are no excuses.

If you have any specific questions, please contact us.

Just so you know.....If you have major engine problems....they will pull motor and tear it appart....and then they will know if you have a tuner...its is very obvious if you do. The way they can tell is the spray pattern on top of the piston....If I recall correctly. I should know because I had a motor pulled and I was there when the tech pulled the heads off and he showed me the increaced spray pattern. So if they really want to know they will find out.

There's no fuel outside of the bowl with the correct tuning. There are programmers and modules that modify the injection event enought to spray outside of the bowl and leave a star pattern. However, your pistons will look like stock with the correct programming.

The PCM will have a P1000 not ready OBD code until a new drive cycle is stored. I usually tell them I reset the batteries to try to fix the issue to explain the code. My dealer considers a P1000 to be a you re-flashed it code. I ran an Innovative tune for 50K miles and when the dealer tore my truck down for head gaskets the pistons looked stock. I also have seen an injector stick open and torch a piston like butter.

If you use SCT you may need to get the tuner unlocked after a dealer reflash. Otherwise it will keep your old stock data in memory next time you use it.
