What Spartan power to use

I am interested in buying a Spartan tuning device for my 09 F350. I regularly tow 10,000lbs in hilly terrain. I notice they have a wide variety of hp levels. Is there a description of what each tune does and what they are designed for? How do you decide which one to use? I'm not into drag racing, just economy and towing. I've tried emailing Spartan at the address on their web site with these questions but their email just bounces back "5.1.0 - Unknown address error 550-'5.7.1 Mail from 64.59.134.9 rejected; by cwm dnsbl'"

Thanks
Kerry

if you buy a new spartan tuner, it comes with 8 preset tunes. I DD the 250 tune, and i tow with the 175 tune.

The recommended tow tune is 150hp, but you can tow with larger tunes. You just have to use you head and monitor the gauges with the Phalanx (DashDAQ). It comes with 12 pre-loaded tunes starting with DPF on road tunes from 40, 75, 120, and 150hp. It also has off tunes starting at the 40, 75, 120, 150, 175, 210, 250, and a stock off road tune in the basic package. Any tune from 210 down has built-in safety features like a stock file. If you egt's get too high it will defuel. The 250 and above tunes are not the same and are considered race tune and will shift a lot harder that stock. They are made that way so the transmission will not slip. Let me know if you have any other questions, or email techsupport@spartandieseltech.com

Most people seem to use the 210, 250, or 275 tunes for daily driving as well as towing. Mileage also seems to be the best in these tunes , 2-4 MPG gain. If you have any questions, feel free to give me a holler.

if i need this truck to last at least 125,000 miles what tune would be mostly likely to get me that far without problems? or would i be better off to just leave it stock?

I would say the 210. It shifts better than stock, has plenty of power and all the built in safeties like a stock tune. Plus the egr valve is kept closed when running which helps to keep trash from being re burned through engine and has lower boost pressure. Egr valve will cycle when the engine is at an idle to help keep it from sticking.......

I personally wouldnt pull anything with more than the 150 tune. I daily drive with the 210 tune and I tow in the 75.

I've towed 22,000 with the 210 tune and have never had a problem. I also use the 310 as my daily driver. If you use your head, drive responsibly and monitor your gauges you should have no problem towing at all with the 210 tune.

We have nothing but flat land here. I tow with the 310 all the time pulling an enclosed 12K trailer dual axle with my 09 dually. I do keep a close eye on Oil and water Temp, as EGT's are not an issue with these trucks.

I would like to ask this question, If you were on the fence on purchasing a Spartan tuner would you just go ahead & just do it?? Also I don't want to loose the DPF & 85% of my towing is in the mountains of Colorado. I tow around 17,000LBS.

Stymie, sounds like you still have the DPF on & getting an impressive 3-4 mpg gain, not bad, which tune do you leave it in?? Have you towed with it yet & if so what are you numbers??

Thanks in advance for the responses.
