Whistling noise from defroster area!!!

There is an extemely loud obnoxious whistling coming from what appears the defroster area. The window has never leaked ever after sitting with a few feet of snow on it for weeks. Most loudest when driving on a very windy day on the freeway. Also less loud when window opened a little bit.
Would appreciate any and all suggestions.

May I post this request on the other forums as I don't suppose it would pertain to any certain engine.
Thanks
Sandy

I not sure of an answer but my pickup has a bad whistle too when driving into the wind. The wind needs to be blowing across the vehicle from the passenger side to create the noise. It sounds like mine comes from the top about where the sirus antenna is. I have taken that off and resealed it but didn't help. I have taped the top of the window seal with mailing tap but still leaks. I don't have any overhead lights, so I am not sure what else it could be. I would appreciate any suggestions.

Mine does this as well with a strong crosswind. Just driving at highway speed doesn't make it do it. There has to be a substantial crosswind. I just figured it was air getting trough the weather stripping on the driver's door. I was thinking about doing the mod where you install tubing inside the weatherstrip to tighten it up.
As for the windshield/defroster whistle, have you tried turning your recirculation on and off to see if the noise changes? You could have trash or dirt in your fresh air vent/valve that is letting air leak through. That's just my .02. I'm not even sure that's how the system works or if it is possible to get something in the vent.

That sounds just like my pickup. Could you let me know if the tubing fixes the problem.

Mine does it to. It can be a cross wind from either side and which ever side the wind is coming from is the side that whistles. Very annoying and startled the heck out of me the first time. I posted something about it here a year or two ago and did not get any good feedback. I am thinking its from up around the bottom of the windshield more than the door rubbers but who knows.

I think mine sounds like it is around the window, but its hard to pinpoint the spot. Mine only whistles when a crosswind is blowing across the vehicle from the passenger side.

I've got a whistle that I have pin pointed at the passenger side mirror turn signal. Depending on the conditions it will whistle at freeway speeds...I had someone riding with me put there hand over it and it went away. My buddy said he had the same thing. I'm going to see if ford will replace it when I go in for service in a couple weeks.

My new truck has less than 2000 miles and it sounds like it is coming from the bottom passinger side of the windshield. Seems to be almost every time at freeway speed. It is going in tomorrow to get fixed. I will post what they find.

Mine started doing the same thing. First time I had driven in a heavy cross wind. Didn't matter if it was from the left or right, in fact I turned around and it did the same thing. I caught it on video to show the dealer but haven't been in yet.

WPWillis: Did you ever get yours fixed?

Let us know what the dealer says when you show them the video. I have not taken mine in or done anything about it yet.

Same issue for me

The noise statted for me about 1 month ago, after 1 year of ownership and about 20K miles.

Mine occurs when there is a crosswind coming across from the passenger side.

I suspect it has to do with the seal that runs down the middle of the plastic cowl at the base of the windshield. The seal on mine is starting to pull apart. When I get a spare hour or two, I will cover it up with tape and drive around to see if I can locate the issue.

Mine does it too, but it has a deep sound rather then high pitched. Also, sounds like it's coming from the front defrost or windshield rather then the door sides.

I recall a previous thread where the result was that the windshield needs to be resealed. It may not leak, but it results in that foghorn type whistle sound. Just need to get my Jeep back so I can drop the truck off.

Whistle?

Anyone ever get a fix for the whistle? MIne started around 20-25K miles and only seems to do it in crosswinds from the right also.

Strange....but someone has to have managed to fix it by now huh?
