Re: Fuel Filter/seperator drain o-ring replacement...my first write up

Small parts cost $4.95 for 25 O-rings, but my shipping cost $8.95 from Florida to Arizona.

Re: Fuel Filter/seperator drain o-ring replacement...my first write up

I am going to be changing my O-rings this weekend, I want to change the filter too. Is there any suggestions on make and/or part numbers that work best? I have Ford, NAPA and all the other standard parts stores to choose from, but I want something that is not going to hurt my performance or do any harm to the engine. Re: Fuel Filter/seperator drain o-ring replacement...my first write up

Thanks for the excellent post.
I finally got around to changing my o'rings after putting it off for a while. They finally started leaking at a constant drip, so I had no choice prior to heading up to the Bud Shootout last Saturday.
All I have to say ,is I hope ,( for his sake) that I never meet the guy that designed that blasted set up. It was the biggest PITA I could imagine. I would have easily rather R&R'd the transmission or re-braked all four corners. Maybe some sort of specialty tool might have made it easier but my fingers simply don't contort like what is neccesary to accomplish this task. It finally got done though, thank god!
If it ever leaks again. Someone else will be dealing with it.

Re: Fuel Filter/seperator drain o-ring replacement...my first write up

Just did mine. Like others have said, what a royal PITA getting to those 4 bolts.

Someone suggested taping the torx bit in...GREAT idea. I dropped in twice before I remember to tape it.

I don't think mine really needed replaced, as there was just some grime on em, but obviously I replaced em anyway since I already bought em.

Thanks!

Re: Fuel Filter/seperator drain o-ring replacement...my first write up

Just stumbled across this thread .... just for the record my 2002 has 3 0-rings in the "yellow lever assembly". There is a 3rd o-ring inside the drain valve tube assembly .. where the yellow lever attaches to the white plastic ball valves.

You can push out the white plastic ball valves from within the black mounting tube and you will see the 3rd o-ring.

Re: Fuel Filter/seperator drain o-ring replacement...my first write up

That Drain Valve Stem Top O-Ring is a AS568A-013 O-Ring. So far I haven't read of anyone having any leakage from that location.

Re: Fuel Filter/seperator drain o-ring replacement...my first write up

Hi,
Thanks very much for all the great info!

I chickened out and bought a new drain valve because
it was so hard to get the thing off (E-350 VAN).

It took me all day to get it done, but no leaks so it
was worth it.

If there was a problem I wanted it to be possible to
get it back together over a weekend.

Also thanks to the person who posted the Parker Vibra-loc
Mcmasters-carr numbers, I bought bags of 10 each and sure
enough, some are now lost in the valley somewhere, never to be seen again.

Another member posted that question in the thread where I posted the pics. I had to tell him that I didn't know, as the fuel bowl was borrowed for the pics.

I'd suggest you post your question in the 94-97 forum. I'm sure someone there will have the answer.

Good stuff, and helped along by the ULSD issue.

Doesn't hurt that it's at the top of the list, either.
