This guide had me thru it in 10 minutes and would you not know that 10 more minutes later I had to jump start a big crane truck and it worked flawlessly. Nice to be able to loose that big 'ol clunky AIC I have been riding around with for 6 years between my last two PDS's.
Well I followed the instructions provided at the top of this post and it works great. I wired the Aux switch 4 to the BCP (purple with green stripe) wire and the Aux 3 to the (orange) PTO wire. I took it one step further and wired in a 10K OHM variable resistor for the pto system. Now when I turn on the 4 switch the engine goes to 1200 and so far stays there. If I turn on the 3 switch I can dial any RPM from 1200 to 2400 and it seems to stay exactly at what I set it too. I already had all the parts and the whole thing took under an hour. I also found some good info about what wires to use at this link:https://www.fleet.ford.com/truckbbas/non-html/Q108.pdf
Thanks StuartV!
One thing about SEIC/AIC and high idle I found confusing at first. Are there actually two bundles of wires, one under the hood and one at the fuse box and are they both used?
Since the 06 has a built in SEIC how high will it idle when the need arises? So far on a chilly MD morning, I have seen mine go to about 900.
We have a 99 7.3 in an E350 at work, lotsa of electronics and also the need for A/C. I have found the bundle under the hood (which is labled differently) however, haven't had the time to check around the fuse box yet.
Thanks,
Rob

The customer access wires on the 99-2003 7.3's & maybe 03-04 6.0's are just dead wires thru the firewall. Just as a way to get wires thru the firewall without drilling holes. You'll need to get an AIC or make one yourself to bump the idle speed up on that van. Check in the feature articles of TDS for a how-to.
I've got an 05 but I don't have the upfitter switches. I would like to add my own switch and be able to run through one of the factory fuses. I did notice in the manual that fuse #29 is a "customer access" fuse. Is this an accessory circuit and if so, where do I find the wire for it? If not, where is the best place to tap into for the hot lead? Any help would be much appreciated.

Click my signature for the high idle mod. If you want the upfitter switches, you can add them yourself. Click my signature for the upfitter switch install. One of the forum sponsors, Powerstrokeshop.com has a special on a upfitter switch kit.

is there anything like this for an 04 psd?

Hougie,
There is a mod you can do for the '04 YM, but you have to provide the switch. Do a username search for 'hitecdan'. Click on the second link in his signature. That should get you were you need to be.
The term is "reduce" wet stacking... the inlet air temp can have quite an effect on combustion chamber temps...
For reference.... we sometimes see -50 in the winter and usually get about a week of temps between -30 and -40. The few days in the summer when the mercury approaches +80, I am reduced to a puddle of sweat laying in the middle of the shop floor.
For just general cold a/c, warm heat would it be better to hook up to the SEIC circuit or the BCP circuit? I can't see any reason to idle at up to 2400 rpms for this function and I don't want to drill a hole for a pot.

Man, I should have done this along time ago! Thanks for the great instructions, was as easy as it was made to seem. Ford must own stock in the electrical tape industry though, the wires (both the upfitter switches and the BCP and SEIC wires) were wrapped with about 10 feet of tape! Once the tape was off they it was a a piece of cake. The wire bundles even had labels on them saying what the wire was and wire color. Again, great post!
