Ford recalls 100,000 2008 F-Series trucks

Haven't seen this posted on here yet.

Really hoping someone has more information. Curious if it is a fix or a whole new seat.

Recall affects certain '08 F-250 through F-550 SD's equipped with 40/20/40 front seat with lumbar that were built between 01/29/07 and 06/16/07.

I am not sure what the "fix" is going to be though...

It just came out yesterday. No parts are available yet. It will probly be a new seat frame.

Sure we do! My powered captain's driver seat's electronic controls just went out, along with the seat memory controls. So, don't get too ****y.

Sorry to hear about your bum seat DieselJambalaya, but the recall has nothing to do with the electroinics...

The problem is the inboard pivot bracket on the drivers seat may not be properly welded causing the possibility of cracking or completely breaking in a crash event.

As Dieseltech38 said, the fix has not been released yet.

I have a feeling that it is a relay that went out with my power seat controls and system. Apparently the combination of the memory setting control, the the power seat position controls, the adjustable pedals and power tow mirrors, are all tied in together on one relay.

I'm bringing the truck to the dealer on Monday. I sure hope that's all it is, and nothing more?

The article I read on it named both the bench and captins chairs. I just called the dealer and he didn't have any info yet.

I have seen articles mentioning both 40/20/40 and captains being recalled, but im guessing it could be a error. The information I posted above is what was released to dealers and there was no mention of captains, only 40/20/40 from the particular time period.

I called Ford. It does include Captains chairs with lumbar. Mine, fortunately, is not affected.

Anyone know about adding a HFI system to the 6.4 engine? I have been looking into it because I drive about 60k per year. I have found places around that install I just haven't tried to reach them yet.

I wanted to know if anyone on this forum has heard or done something like this yet.

Recall Code: 08C01

Whatever that means? Is there a repair yet?

As of 03/18 dealers have the inspection/repair procedure information. Owners of affected vehicles are supposed to be notified the week of 03/24/08.

When I had my 7.3L PSD I looked into an HFI system from the Canadien CHEK company, and they said I could get a system installed in my truck for about $4500. I balked at paying that much money. Now that I have a 6.4L PSD, I'm guessing that a HFI system would void the warranty on the engine, plus I'm not sure about the ROI on such a system.
