2011 Superduty and new engine with it

I was looking around thedieselstop and came across the some links that eventually lead me to this web site.

2011 Ford Super Duty: 2011 Ford Super Duty Engine Mule Shows Off Replacement To Stroking?

Apparently, Ford is ending the contract with international for making the Navistar engines (due to cost and warranty issues), is coming out with a new 6.7l diesel with a new transmission to go with it. The engine is currently in an 2008 body with a bigger hood. Has any one found out more information about this change that Ford is doing????

well they certainly need to do something. the current one has already lost most of its luster and its still in its first year.

They take existing bodies and do whatever is necessary to fit development powertrains. People don't understand that and make judegements and even purchase decisions based on such things. It is why they usually mask vehicles like that truck pictured.

Their main motivation is to break the connection with Navistar.

Function over form. Don't worry all they did was motify an existing hood to clear the bigger 6.7l. They want to test the engine before making any permanent body changes. My guess is it is just temporary.

I was driving down I94 on my way to Dearborn when I had that truck pass me, I was driving my 08 escape and rolled my windows down and drove next to him I couldn't hear the motor at all at about 75mph. The exhaust sounded good but it has the flanged test pipe sticking out.

The traffic slowed to a stop and then took off again like it always does in rush hour, I had my 2.3l manual escape red linning through the gears but couldn't catch him again, he took off like a rocket, and no smoke.

are you talkin about the test truck or a 2008 diesel truck? personally i really dont care about the hood other than the fact the engine will be a reliable engine that will have a good reputation like the 7.3. ALSO the price to buy the truck will be more reasonable price to buy.

yah I seriously doubt the 2011 is going to be cheaper to buy, and when did the 6.4s become so unreliable? Haven't had any problems with mine yet... then again I'm not sure its built yet either.
