About that gas door recall...

Rumor has it that a recall is going to be issued for the gas door. Maybe I am missing something, but isn't the door design on the 2008 the same door design that was first installed on the 1999 SuperDuty? Curious what part the recal will cover. I still have not received a notice in the mail about the seat bracket but on "My Ford" website, my truck's VIN is included.

Afternoon Capt,

I was just in the shop yesterday and they installed a clamp for the 'front seat back inspection and repair' recall.

The service invoice also indicated a recall for 'fuel tank stopper bracket installation'. It was an advance notice and said parts or info not available.

I have not had any problems with either the seat or the fuel cap/door so not sure what prompted the recalls.

Perhaps some of the fuel doorhinges are wearing out due to the low mpgs and more frequent fill ups.

I called my dealer yesterday to schedule a time to come in and have my seat looked at (it was also on My Ford). Writer informed me that my VIN was listed in the 'fuel stop' TSB. Said parts would be in their place in a couple of weeks. She didn't say anything about the door. I assumed it had to do with the filler hose assembly.

It would be nice if the fuel door thing included a little holder or something on the inside for when the cap is off, so it doesnt have to dangle down the side of the truck every time. I have a nice little hazy patch where the gas cap has left marks over time. Black truck though, so its pretty obvious.

just to try and clarify things.... There is a vast difference between "TSB" (technical service bulletin) and "FSA" (field service action), AKA "recall".

There is on mine. A little hook to hold the strap.

I just had the fuel tank stopper completed. The dealer installed a large metal plate that is bolted to the frame just in front of fuel tank. Tech. explained metal plate was to prevent fuel tank from moving forward in case of a accident.
