Adding Tailgate Step

Can it be done? I see the tailgate has a removable panel, wondering if the step can be retrofitted, and at what cost?

Thanks! Ben

Might be cheaper to get one off of an upfitter that does utility beds. Keep an eye on ebay, I think I saw one a while back for $700. I think buying completely new and painting the tailgate is something like $1200. I don't think you can retrofit what you have.

There's one on Ebay right now for like $600 + shipping, and the auction hasn't ended. That buys a lot of 3' step ladders

The Man Step rocks though! Can't believe trucks went so long without them. If you're in and out of the bed all day, you'll appreciate the step. $600 sounds like a steal. I think it's worth it.

A little off topic, but I'm still debating on whether or not the step is a desirable option, it's sort of a mixed blessing. On one hand it does help get in and out of the truck, but also, the hand-bar impedes smooth movement of cargo and debris is always getting trapped under the handle. Anyway, something to consider. Oh, I also forgot to raise the step one time when I wanted to leave the tail gate down to let the wind clear out some of the debris. Luckily I didn't damage the step.
