Combined freeway/city I get 10.3 empty. Towing a 26,000 lb loaded trailer I get between 6-7 mpg.

Mpg 4.88

Greetings, First Post, 08 450 4x with 488's, 9.5 to 10 mpg combined for me. When I haul it's only 10-12K. Any thoughts on re-gearing the S110 to 430 or 410? Thanks

Thanks for your answer. So I thought on re-gearing, but before I want to drive with my habits and on French roads, may be I will get better mpg......hope hope !! Other solution is a spartan tune, but I must keep the dpf and the exhaust because we have a French emission control each year and I do not know if spartan can do it !! And the truck will be in France not before 2 months ..... wait and see....

I get 6-7 towing 10k to 15k
12-13 empty driving nice
10-11 normal I have a heavy foot and I like my edge tuner
I do notice better mileage when I put additives in, less regen

I've wondered the same thing. I'm pondering changing out my gears from the stock 3.73 to 4.30's. My reason is to mainly compensate for the effects of my Toyo's. I've figured that 4.30's would about set things back to stock while retaining the tires. I think MPGs are likely to increase somewhat in all conditions. Additionally, I think they might lessen the loads on the transmission also.

As is, the truck does an incredible job pulling my trailer and any load I've tasked it with. I can't imagine it could do any better, but I suspect there may be quite an increase in acceleration when towing also.

I'd like to hear from those who have changed gears. What do you think of the result?

Sounds like my 11-12 mpg on my 2008 V-10 isn't so bad after all.

Why why living in France did you not get a Mercedes 817A Vario or for that matter a Unimog U5000 or U500?
With my U500 weighing 27000 lb I get 9.7 mpg (24L/100km), on highway.

Many reasons : in first I prefer the very good looking of the US trucks. I owned a ram 1500 2002 (went to Russia with it), a Silverado 1500 2008, in France with these trucks you are "different" ! Plus, these trucks have a better comfort (even the dodge ram ) and I love their US style, cruising with a good music is so..."cool" !
As I load a truck-camper (that I bough in USA also ) the European (Asiatics) pickups are too light in my opinion.
And with the weak USD (1,36$ for 1€ today) they are less expensive even with shipping, 22% customs, plus 19,6% taxes, and the modifications for the Approval for Europe. So if you compare with European trucks it is a very good deal. Plus as here we a have a lot of US trucks Fans (you can look the French forum :AMERICAN 4X4 - Le site des passionnés de 4x4 Américains) , when you sell your truck after one or more years of a great pleasure you win a good money ! Example : I sold my chevy the same price than I bought it one year earlier and with 20 000 mile in more !

I have never gotten double digits. Last tank was 9.55. I get 6.5 towing 14K. Pappy apples to oranges comparing your little F250 gasser to a F450. I bet my truck with a V10 would get 6 mpg unloaded!
