Autolock not working

On my previous trucks I could go into the message center and turn the autolock feature on. This would then lock the doors once I reached a speed of 5mph or so. With this truck I can go into the center, turn the feature "ON", but the doors still don't lock after driving. Any ideas? I've looked at fuses I figured were related but they all seem ok. Thanks!

Hey Todd,

Hmm. I checked out your Owner's Manual, 4th Printing (available here: https://owner.ford.com/servlet/Conte...OwnerGuidePage) and, as long as your vehicle was equipped with this feature, you should be able to turn the autolock feature off or on. Bring it up to your service tech the next time you have a scheduled maintenance appointment so they can take a look.

Crystal-

Thanks for the response! I think it was standard on Lariat trucks, but maybe it wasn't. Maybe it was something the dealer had to program/turn on. Hopefully I'll remember to ask them at the next oil change!

Tried the procedure in the manual with the lock/unlock button...horn beeped like it should to indicate auto lock was turned on. Still no dice. Oh, well...will try to remember next time I'm at the dealer.

Crystal-

Thanks for your help, and was wondering if you could confirm something for me...through searching the Internet it looks like Ford has the autolock/auto unlock feature turned off for manual transmission vehicles, which mine is. Is that true? If so, is it possible for the dealer to activate it? I do t understand why it would be deactivated for manual transmissions.

Thanks again!

Todd

Hey Todd!

I sent your question to my technical subject matter expert for his feedback. I'll touch base with you as soon as I have an answer; I just wanted to make sure you knew I was working on this for you.

Hi Todd,

I got an answer from my technical advisor to your question about autolock/auto unlock on manual transmission vehicles:

The module that controls the auto locks needs transmission gear input to operate; this doesn't exist in manual transmissions. With automatic transmissions, the module knows that the vehicle is in park, neutral, reverse, drive, etc. The system requires that gear input in order to work, so with manual transmissions this feature is not available.

Let me know if you still have questions.

Thanks!

Crystal

Hmm...that's a weird way to set it up, because my BMW car automatically locks the doors above 5mph...and it's a manual

Thanks for the info! Merry Christmas!
