Bed Damaged behind cab

I had two 200lb protein tubs in the bed and had to slam on the brakes and they moved and hit the front of the bed and bent it towards the cab. There wasn't any damage to the cab. Curious to see if this has happen to anyone else, and if so how much did it cost to fix? I checked our old farm truck and it has the same dent in it behind the cab. I'll need to decide if this is worth fixing or not. Btw the truck is a 2008 250 crew cab.

The same thing happened to my buddys Dodge hauling the same kind of tubs. I think he is looking into a tool box, back rack, or box cover to mask it somewhat - he said its not a cheap fix! He wants to pull it back somewhat and cover it up. I had something similar happen once but it was to the tailgate when some suitcase style tractor weights slid backwards on my plastic box liner and bowed my tailgate quite badly!

General suggestion (not directed to you). I have a Backrack. I love it. It's saved my bacon countless times. It will add rigidity to the bed, but if the stuff you're hauling is not tall enough to clear the lip of the bed, you still may have that issue with shifting loads causing damage to the bed. Otherwise, it does a great job of ensuring that the cab is protected and adding rigidity to the bed. Fix the bed. Then future future hauling, place the load up towards the head of the bed and then use a combination of your stakepockets and anchors to secure your load. If you've got the Backrack, you can use that as well.

You could try to pull it back. Could you get a long piece of 2x4 in between the bed length wise? One person on each end and pull towards the bed of the truck?

Just a though. I would want a little clearance to still be there so it doesn't rub.

Contact your local paintless dent repair guy. They can do miracles with their tools and fairly affordable. Plus while you have him there, take care of any door dings elsewhere on your truck.
