Biggest tire fits in spare location?

Hello,

Wondering what is the largest diameter tire that will fit in the undercarriage spare location on a '08 F350 p/u. And what is the first limiting factor... Tow hitch, exhaust, diff ?

Thanks!

it depends if you have a longbed or a shortbed. I have a shortbed and have personally tried a 315 BFG AT in the location with no problem..... so luckily... they have changed the design enough to fit a 35" spare tire.... which is great news for most of us. Couldn't do it on my '04 shortbed

My 05 will only fit a 33" 275/65/18 type spare. I know a lot of folks with factory 20" wheel 34 inch tires complained about not being able to carry a 34" full size spare.

Thanks for the replies,

Looking at a longbox.

Want to use Toyo MT 285/75R18. They are 35.1" OD. I figure it will be real tight and wonder what, if anything can be done to make it fit.

Don't know if the tow hitch was changed for 2008 to allow for more room?

RRose,

On re-reading your reply and sig (great set-up BTW)...

Are you running the 285/75R18?, Carrying one as a spare? 3.73s OK?

Thanks
