Cetane Booster

Anyone using a cetane booster in their 6.4? If so, is there any improvement (ie: MPG, performance) ?

Hey Blue Crew: I bought a bottle ($13.00 cdn) from the dealer yesterday and I'm going to give it a try, I only have 300 miles on my first diesel, so on the next fill up (at $5.41 a Canadian Gallon) I can start hand calcuating to get real data. So far on the DIC the highest I've got is 11.9 mpg(US) on winter gas. If you use the "Search Function" on this site you will find alot about cetane additves. The link below has great information for starters.

I'm using a DPF safe cetane boost and fuel conditioner from Amsoil.

Seems like smoother operation and about a half mpg increase.

I just bought my first bottle from Ford. I am interested to see if there is any change. So far I have not noticed any change in performance. However, I am still on my first tank using it.

Every tank, every truck. Fuel is barely at minimums.

Acetone is about $13 a gallon at paint stores.

Add 2.5 ounces for every 10 gallons of diesel or B-100.

It provides about a 10% improvement in fuel economy.

I've used it since 2002 in 2 diesels and 4 gassers with no problems ever in any of them.

Use 3 ounces per 10 gallons in gassers.

I'd be a little worried about putting acetone in a ultra low sulfur engine as I'm sure evidence of it would void the warranty.

Hey BlueCrew,
Go here: Diesel Truck Chemicals. Diesel Truck Additives From LUBEGARD® and Super-X

DiselFiltersOnline.com is a good place to purchase Cetane booster as well as Anti-Gel.
Their prices are decent for additives as well as filters, etc. Plus they ship fast!
I actually got the link from this site site about a month or so ago...Take a look.

Hard to tell the actual performance Improvement (so far) to be honest though....we'll see?
Living at 9,000 ft. abv. sea level, I do it more for our severe climate then anything.

Best of luck!
Cheers from Ski Country Colorado~
