diesel additives

Recently I was at at truck wash getting my rv washed and started talking to a "semi" truck driver. I asked him what he thought of diesel additives since I figure he has dealt with "diesels" pretty much. He said he did not advocate the use of such products because according to him additives tend to ruin the injectors. He said just to put diesel and nothing else.

Does anybody have any input on this subject? I currently use Kleen but I was thinking of using Stanadyne. Does anybody use any of these 2 products?

My '03 manual mentions Stanadyne by name as an approved fuel additive. I have used it pretty much in every fill up, but I can't say that it does anything except make me feel good. Supposedly, the fuel, as it is sold, meets all the requirements of your engine, Cetane number and lubricants, etc. I can't see where a good brand of fuel additive will hurt anything except our wallet.

I agree with montanafan.....I have been using Stanadyne ever since I have owned my truck. It is especially good to use in the winter.
Besides, how many chemical engineers are driving trucks for a living??

NeveR was a fan of additives until I tried Ford's new PM-22A. It smoothed my 7.3 out.

Never even heard of that one. Where do you get it Blue, and what is it?
