Question Dually Fender Lights Popping Out

Hi Folks,

I am having a bit of a nuisance issue with my truck. About a month ago, one of the fender lights 'popped out' causing it to dangle on the side of the fender. As luck would have it, I had a routine service appointment already scheduled a few days later, so the dealer took care of the problem for me. It was a simple fix...a slide clip fell out of place but the wheel well had to be removed to get to it. The mechanic said this happens when the back end bounces around...well, duh, isn't that what the back end of pick-up trucks are sposed to do?

I just got back from a 2,000 mile road trip where the truck pulled my 38' fifth wheel up and down mountains flawlessly, but I now have 3 of the 4 lights popped out.

I am going to have the dealer take care of this again for me, but I am wondering if anyone else is having this issue and if there are any other suggested fixes to it doesn't just happen again and again.

Thanks in advance for any constructive advice you may have!

I had this happen to me.

Loose side marker lamps, 2008 dual rear wheel pickups:
Some trucks may have marker lamps that are loose on the fenders, or fall out. If the side marker lamp assembly must be replaced, discard the bulb that comes with the assembly and install bulb p/n C2AZ-13466-C. The lamp retaining bracket, F81Z-15A436-AA, should be replaced as well. Red marker lamp: F81Z-15442-BA; amber marker lamp: F81Z-15442-CA. Broadcast Message 0352.

This just happened to my truck. Two of four lights popped out. Has it happened to you since?

Has anybody done this repair themselves?

i started replacing them on my truck and my friends trucks with 2" round 9 led lights. and i will never look back. if i was to buy a brand new dually the first thing i would do it change them over. if its good for a tractor trailers that are on the road every day all day then they cant be half bad. i have never had good luck with the stock setup even tried after market ones they get water in them the plugs get all buggered up.

Just so I understand, when you changed to the 2" round LED type, do you need to modify (cut) the fender?
