Electric heater question

I have a 08 F350 with the fast start electric heater option. I did not find in the manual anything conclusive on how it works. It said in the "Auto" mode, when below certain temp and auto would push out heat, it will work. Well, it seems that it is not working. I MIGHT get some small amount of warm fan air, but not right when I start up. As soon as the engine gets warm all it well. Before I take it in, I was wondering if I am doing something wrong.

Thanks, Doug

LesMiller, thanks!

Thanks for the feedback. I will try that today. It is very cold here, around 5 degrees.

I did not see that instruction in the manual. I am glad someone knows how to do it.
