Just wondering if this is a ford oversight or a problem. Woke up to 3 inches of snow and ice this morning, started the truck, turned on the mirror defrosters only to come back to see only the top lens of the mirror clear but the bottom still covered in snow and ice. Did Ford really only design this for the top lens to be defrosted and not the bottom?!!!!! On the same note, it takes forever for my windshield defroster to do anything. It has not even started melting snow and frost after warming up for 10 minutes or more. Not impressed. I still love this truck overall.

yeah only the top mirror is heated, blind spot is not. Same on my 06 as well except on the 08 you have a switch to operate heated mirrors, 06 they were on all the time, so there was some improvement

Yup, only the large top mirror has the electric deice element. If you have supplemental heater, select defrost and it will start warming up the windshield long before the coolant reaches a temperature to melt anything.

do you really think that a diesel, whicch generates almost no engine heat at idle(will actually cool down while idling) is going to(in sub freezing temps) warm up 8+gallons of coolant in a ten minute period of doing nothing but idling in your driveway? Try again.

I agree with the Capt, with the suplemental cabin heater, the defroster is effective almost immediately. I did not know much about the supplemental heater when I ordered, but sure glad I did get it.
Hmm, will have to look for the supplemental heat. Is there a button that will tell me I have it? I can look on my sticker to determine as well. I have a button I just noticed on my AC panel that says dual, is that it? Thanks guys.
