Im looking for a diffrent truck im looking for a 550 or 450 crew cab i was wondering what the diffrence was besides the springs? Also is there a diffrence between the cab and chassy and one with a bed besides the bed? Im going to put a flat bed on so it doesn't matter. Thanks for your help.

Not sure if there's a difference between 450 and 550 other than possibly springs, but chassis cab frame rails are narrower than pickup truck frame rails

Mongus, Id like a 550 but im looking for a crew cab in xlt or larett and im finding them hard to find so I think im going to have to settle with a 450. with just the springs and axle being different it wouldn't be to hard to change them out.

Got a late 99 F550 here at the shop..just modded it out...the brakes are HUGE and the real axle is insane.
Only thing I do not like about it is the gearing 4.88's is nuts 4.10 would be so much better..of if US gear was still making their OD unit that would be perfect.

No one has touched on the power issue with the cab chassis. I bought a 2012 F350 CC Pickup and then bought another F350 CC Cab Chassis for my business. The power difference is night and day. I've since learned from reading on this forum that for some reason they derate the cab chassis from the 400HP/800 Torque that the pickups have to 300HP/660 torque. I still don't have a complete understanding as to why, something about the EPA. But I would recommend you take it into consideration when deciding on you next vehicle.
