Fold flat rear seat

So I bought a used '08 and I was expecting the rear seat to fold flat like the rear seat in my father-in-law's '05. The seats at least look the same. But mine folds to about 10 degrees shy of flat. Is this normal?

...never mind, I reread your tagline.

No, that's about all you get from the seat back; what about folding the seat bottom up?

I'm a little embarrassed to say that this is for our two dogs. Unless they can see out the windows going down the road they puke. On our 2000 I took the back seat out and built a plywood platform that worked out great with plenty of storage under the dogs. I looked at the size of the rear seat in the 2008 and assumed this would be too difficult.

I don't know why the back seat would have changed from 2005 to 2008.

Don't you know... they have to 'new and improve' everything!

If you don't have the platform under the rear seat you can make one out of plywood, perhaps, or find a used one and install it (I took mine out for better under seat storage with the seat down.)
