is ford making money on the 08 Diesels?

I live in Bloomington, IN and I just don't see very many new 3 and 450s with the new motor out on the streets. I see even less on dealer lots in my area. I'm not sure if there's a shortage of trucks, or just a result of general economic uncertainty we've got right now.

I just don't see how ford can be making money on these trucks, although what I see through my own eyes is anecdotal information....

I see plenty of 08s down here. But I've only seen a couple 08 Duramaxs, the Chevy lot normally has one. Truck preference probably varies quite a bit geographically.

They are selling as many as they can make. If I was to place a fleet order for one now the lead time is ten to twelve weeks. Build out date for 2008s is May 19 - and was extended from April 21.

It's been this way for quite awhile. I ordered an F450 cab & chassis on March 20, 2007. It wasn't shipped until July 21! Dealerships get preference for customer orders over fleet orders.

And there's new Super Duties running all over the place here in upstate NY.

Sales around here seem to be pretty good. And I have seen other 450's on the road, too. Company I work for has recently taken delivery of a large volumne of 250/350 gassers and many more 450/550 6.4s cab chassis, techs are fighting over the chance to drive the new trucks.
BTW, the company leased couple of dozen 3500 SRW '08 Chevy's, they all have hydraulic lifts on the back but they are not handling the weight very well of just the lifts alone, when you load up 500+lbs in the bed, the tail of the truck is wagging as it travels down the road. Just not up to the task the S/D's easily handle.

When I visit friends in Chicago, I hardly ever see one (07 or 08), but out here there seems to be one in every driveway
