Fuel Reset

can the fuel reset switch be used backwards as an anti theft device. like a shut of switch or does it only work one way?

Only works one way. Why do you want to do this? Don't you have a chipped key? With out that key or its partner key, the truck will not start. It is standard on the upper end trucks and the Lariat is definitely the upper end. You should be good to go as is. They will have to tow you to take the truck.

Thanks rock doctor for your reply. I did not know that the key chip was that secure, can they bypass the key by yanking the key clyinder out of the truck or will this make it worse to hot wire?

Even if its hotwired the truck won't give any fuel to the engine unless it sees the chip in your key. Each key has a unique code to it and any new keys have to be programmed into the computer to work. So even if they had a copy of your key it still wouldn't start unless that particular key's code was stored in the computer.

The key has a RFID tag in it and from what i understand the receiver is part of the column. Remember the RFID sends a coded number to the computer so you can't hot wire it. If you are concerned, you can change the front outside door handles with the ones for the rear door (i.e. no key cylinders) plus you can get steel plates that mount inside of the door (jimmi jammers or something like that) to protect the interior door hardware. The best thing is to just think of how you park. Try to back in to spots so it can't be easily towed and park with the wheels turned all of the way.
