Does anyone know if the 38gal tank can be installed on the F250 short bed?
If not, are there any recommendations for auxiliary fuel tanks for the same model?
Thanks
Not sure about whether the 38 gallon tank can fit in the short bed (my guess is not). If you're looking for auxiliary tanks, I've seen discussion about Transferflow auxiliary fuel tanks. They have everything from straight out replacements to auxiliary fuel/tool combo tanks.

Might help if you disclosed what/whose 38 gal tank you are talking about?
Otherwise, as mentioned above, lots of posters here have reported great results swapping out their tanks for the Transferflow tank. Do a search on transferflow and you will find lots of helpful information.
Also look at aero tank. They sell additional capacity replacement tanks along with a 40gal rear tank that replaces the rear tire. Just installed one over the weekend and to my surprise it's not visible standing behind the truck (read doesn't hang down lower than the spare tire)

Wow, that's close to 300 lbs replacing maybe a 50 lb tire & rim. When full of fuel, do you think that constantly carrying the added weight that far back will cause any balance problems?

Believe the actually increased weight full of fuel is 400lb. Sure beats carrying sand in the back for traction! Running it over the scales, the rear axle weight is now 3820lbs while rear axle rating is 6262. Front axle weight remained 5320. While I was expecting perhaps a slight drip in mileage I haven't seen it yet.
I have a 45 gallon tank with toolbox in my 2008 F250 short bed. Mine is an American Tank model. www.auxtank.com It's a tight fit, but it fits. I think a guy could have a hard cover on the bed too. It doesn't come up over the top of the bed.

Diesel weighs 7.09 lbs / gallon, so 40 gallons = 283.6 lbs, but if you include the weight of the tank . . .

If I was running a diesel, I would go with a Titan tank, alot less weight and no rust problems. No one makes a replacement tank for Ford gas rigs at present. I talked with Transferflow and they said maybe by early next year, they might have one.

I just put a Titan tank on mine before a 2500 mile trip pulling my trailer. I couldn't be happier. I can finally make it to the good gas stations to get the cheaper fuel. It's not that hard to install either.

I have a 75 gallon tool box combo from RDS in my F250 short bed. It is gravity fed into the filler neck, very nice set up. Still plenty of room for my goose neck.
I'm just about ready to install a 91 gal RDS tool box combo in my F350 DRW. I think it will be a great addition with the filler neck option also.
Can't wait 1250 miles between stops.
